When I feel depressed, and I find myself at a complete loss and desperately seek for the threads of 'hope',then MUSIC is my only companion, my only medicine which returns me back in life.It makes me calm, peaceful ,renews my lost hopes, inspires me and helps me to take rational decisions once again and I find myself smiling back at life. Time and again music, soft and sweet and serene ,has helped me to release my stress and strain. music is a part& parcel of my life.I love it, enjoy it & cherish it.
What about you all my friends? Do you think a depressed mind can find solace in MUSIC and get back it's lost strength???

i would say yes. But that depends on what type and genre of music.
If i'm not in a good mood and i listen to some really heavy music, i would get even more blacker.
I find that classical and soft music does do good to me.

Well i completely agree with you. Music is one thing which helps me in every mood, when i am sad i listen to music, when i am happy even then i listen to it. Its my life. I personally like punk music i love listening to it loud so, when i am sad or depressed i listen to loud music, so that it can take away all my sadness and get me back on track. It soothes my soul.
Cheers!!

I guess it would really depend on the type and genre of the music, how bad of a depression you're in, and what the song really means to you.
Of course if you listen to dark depressing music when you're already down, it's not likely to help your depression very well.
A lot of individual songs have a certain inner meaning to people, relating to a happy (or maybe not so happy) memory in life. These are the songs that I would say may cheer you up and help in a depression.

Hi Toony182, yes you are right. Music or songs that actually touch our soul and caress our ailing hearts, is the music that helps us out of depression. Thanks for your response. Regards

That is right. Music is a very powerful thing. It can do a lot of things. Somehow, I choose different music at different time with different mood.

When I'm depressed music can definitely help. Sadder, darker music sometimes is actually better, as it reminds me I'm not the only one who felt this way, and it lets me let out some of my emotions as they flow with the music. Then once I'm starting to feel better, its time for the happy music again. ;-)
