When I was a kid we used to have a bath once a week and as far as I know this was quite normal in the commmunity. I am certain we were not less healthy than people are today.

You are probably right littletinker but it is nice in the mornings having a shower. It sort of wakes you up. I never use deoderants or perfumes by the was and I agree is is better to smell normal

You are quite correct. Back in the old days it was perfectly normal for the children of the house to have a bath on a Sunday evening. And they also often shared the same water.
Far from being UNhealthy due to lack of bathing, they would be MORE healthy as your immune system strengthens when dirt is around.
We are brainwashed into believing that to be clean we have to bathe every day and it is not true and we also think that we smell if we dont bathe too. No, we dont smell bad, we smell normal! Normal is so much nicer than the horrible smell of flowery chemicals and perfume. Its just that we get used to the smell of the perfumes.
Added to which.....think of all the water that is being wasted. Think of the tremendous amounts of chemicals that are washed in our oceans from soaps, shampoos, antiperspirants and skin cleansers.
Dont take a shower everyday and you can do more for the planet than not driving your car to work!!

I find it refreshed when I do showers in the morning, I would also agree with you littletinker, I think there are superstitious beliefs attached to it as well.

I take a shower every single day. I can't function without one. Summer, winter, spring or fall, rainy days, cloudy days, stormy days...it doesn't matter. I know ppl too that don't take showers for weeks on end and I just can't grasp how they can go day after day like that...it'd make me nuts.

I have found that I do not sleep well if I have not showered. I just feel yucky, and disturbed and restless.

A good hot or warm shower will warm you up in cold weather, I don't see what the problem is.
The weather's been crazy this year, yesterday the temp got up to 45 degrees and the day before it started out at -3 and never got up above 6 degrees. Some more problems caused by global warming. We better wake up soon and start taking care of our earth, it's the only one we have!

Why would he not take a shower? I know that the oils on my skin make me warmer but it's not a good warm, it's a dirty-grimy feeling.
I'll bet your friend doesn't smell very good in the winter!

I'd take a shower no matter what the weather is like. The inly things is that if it is extremely cold, then hotter the water would be. If nothing else i keeps me fresh and sort of revitalises me form the otherwise dull feeling that i would have have of not taking a shower.

I do take showers in cold weather. They are fast but I take them. No lingering in the shower when it is too cold out..But if it is warm out I do.

I bathe daily, but I do make them shorter if it is cold. I hate that jumping out of the shower freezing feeling.

Hello my dear torchablazed Ji,
Taking bath daily is in my blood, till something serious happens. I take bath daily and after completing my worship before Almighty, I take something in break-fast. Thispractice goes with all my family memebers barring few times with both of my sons, who relax sometimes, because of holidays and week-ends, but they also would take sometimes after Lunch or even after dinner. There are people in my side, who take bath outside in open evn atmospheric temerature is reduced to almost Zero. I do take bath inside bath-room and preferably warm water, Cold water does not suit me. But i never take shower bath as my hairs are problemsome. may god bless you and have a great time.

Of course i do! i mean i enjoy taking a shower and feeling clean. I do understand the question and what they are trying to say though. Hey we all have to admit it, we haven't taken a shower every singe consecutive day of our lives! If im feeling dirty, sweaty or anything else that would require a shower, then sure im hoppin in the shower. But hey think of this now, have you ever woken up on a sunday or any other day that you didnt have anything to do and you were in the house alll day long? just sitting around doing nothing? watching tv? eating? reading? and the most strenuous thing you did to break a sweat was push the power button on the microwave for those delicious frozen pizza bagels you always like to eat? Sure others might say if you dont take a shower every day your disgusting, gross, creature of the lagoon or w.e else they might say. but they're just weird! haha. Eveyone has not taken a shower, ecspecially on the cold days b.c you dread the dreaded getting out of the shower when your wet and having to deal with that terrible chill. so why not just skip that whole painful agonizing process and not take one? lol. In the end just think about your health and hygene. if your family is wondering if the dog pooped in the house and you dont have a dog.. then well, I think you better hop in the shower. but other than that do what ever you want. stay fresh stay clean, and most importantly dont turn green. if your past the age of 10 you should know for yourself when its time to take a shower. stay wet, stay warm, stay classy.

Hi there. Well, though it's hot I still sleep with a blanket covering my entire body.. So though it's cold I still take showers.. I don't know I used to do that. Yeah, your right it's for health security purposes. It's cold so any bacteria can be spread and grow rapidly, well some bacteria does.. right? So I am not at ease sleeping my bed without taking a shower or getting a bath, because I imagine those dust and dirt that I get outside, we do not know. Well, every person has different preferences right? Thanks for the post and keep on posting!

I take showers in cold weather. I don't take them quite as often as I do in the summer, though, as the showering and the cold air dry my skin out so bad. But yeah I definitely take showers. It's nice to be in the hot water, in my opinion, on cold days. Right now it's totally freezing here in Iowa and I can't just not shower for the winter. I don't do baths.

Hey torch! That is the most ridiculous excuse that I've
ever heard! What does that have to do with being clean?
It is in the single digits here in NY and my apartment is
freezing, especially my bathroom with its tile floors!
I surely didn't want to take my clothes off to take a shower
today! But, I would never even think of skipping a day without
one no matter what the weather was like! I even take a shower
if I have a fever and am really sick! In fact, I took a really
hot shower to warm up! There is just no excuse for not being
clean! I have a definite problem with that! I feel that all
adults need to bathe every day!

It is very rare for houses to have a hot bath or shower Opal, hence, it really does chill your bones when you hit the shower when it is really cold, rainy days. I do take mine manually, hitting a hot water and place it in tub, lol. But I do manage to take a bath daily.

Oh, I'm sorry torch! I didn't know that! I didn't mean to
be offensive! I didn't know about the hot water thing! We
sometimes don't have hot water here because the stupid boiler
thing is always breaking down, especially in the winter!
I have even taken showers in ice cold water! But, I am sorry
because I really didn't know about your water problem! In
that case I wouldn't blame you for not taking one in the cold
rainy weather.

I think that it is really weird to not take a shower in the cold weather. Just because its cold doesn't mean that you don't sweat or get dirty. As a parent I make sure my son baths every day. I don't want my kid to be the smelly kid. I guess if your friend was just switching to a bath that is fine. My son prefers baths to showers, and I don't think there is much of a difference on the cleanliness.
