i cant add debit card to paypal

i am from india and i have hdfc debit card but somehow i cant add it to apypal. i dont know why. does any of you has the same problem?

Why do you want a credit card? for verification? You can verify your paypal account with your Bank account, I think.
Or, as you have an account with HDFC you can use their Virtual Credit Card facility. It's free. You can find a link in their website http://www.hdfcbank.com.
Look for Netsafe / Verified By Visa on their site. You may have to register with your existing debit card. From your debit card you can create number of virtual credit cards, 5 per day, within your funds. You set the limit of the card. The card is valid for 24 hours, but limited to one time use. Means, if you use it once, it is nomore. The unused amount returns to our account within 3 days.
I am using this facility often. I booked e-ticket using a netsafe card. After an hour or so, I canceled the ticket for some reason. To my surprise it was recredited to my account. So it implies that, chargebacks are also possible with this VCC.

hello ventkataraman. i tried signing up for the netsafe card of hdfc bank , but it is not accepting my 16 digit debit card number saying its invalid. whats that. why it not accepting visa card of hdfc bank. i cant move further. what to do? how did you signed up for netsafe cards. did you encounter any problem while signing up for netsafe card?

I didn't encounter any problem while signing up for the VCC.
You may know you should not leave spaces between the numbers. Nothing else could be the problem, I guess.

hi HARJOTDOAD.
after my long time research about paypal verification process, i came to know that none of the indian debit card can be linked with paypal. so, i think you should give up trying linking you debit card, indeed get a credit card and link it with paypal .

This is absolutely true.
I had a friend who had an Indian paypal account and he too had issues with adding a debit card to his paypal account.
I believe adding a credit card say from HDFC bank (which most people use)
will do the deal.
Moreover, do not use any other method, else paypal will limit your account.

you cannot add your debit card if you are from india..paypal doesnt yet provide that service..!!

Your debit card must be having the phrase "For electronic use only" . If this is the case, then you can use it only in ATM's and not on website like paypal. if you want to verify your paypal account then send me message and I will tell you how to get it done.

Hello friend
I am also facing the same situation. I have a so called international VISA debit card allotted by UBI. But it cannot be used woth AlertPay or Paypal.
Netsafe card of HDFC bank might be a good option.

Your debit card may be a national debit card
.Thats why it is not being accepted by paypal.You need to have an international debit card to verify your paypal account.I tried doing it with my icici bank debit card and i was unsuccessful.
