If it is a situation where you KNOW that they are lying, with proof, I would personally recommend confronting them with the situation. Sometimes if someone knows that they've "gotten away" with lying they will just continue to do so. If a friend confronts them about it, there may be immediate negative response, but in the end they will realize it was done with concern and will grow to appreciate the true friendship involved.

I have a friend who exaggerates in everything she says. It can be exasperating sometimes, but since it's never about anything important, I usually just let it go. No point in making a issue out of it if I don't need to. However, if someone flat out lies to me about something more significant, I'll call them on it, for sure. I have no problem whatsoever doing that.

Sometimes it's okay to let it slide and not do or say anything, but if the person lies about many things, it's probably better for them if you tell them that you know. You're probably not the only one who knows he or she lies.
