Hi friends, what do you want to get besides wonderful landscapes when you travel abroad? Suppose you can live in the hotel and the native inhabitants' home by spending the same money ,which one do you prefer?

I prefer both of ur concepts. I like both of them, when i travel abroad. Situatuionally, I select one option among home and hotel. My lord, I found no difference between them.

Thanks for your responce manozzkumar, but i don't think it same to live in the hotel and in the native people's home.To live in the hotel you can get allround service,so maybe you can feel more comfortable. However to live together with the native family you can learn more about that country such as the custom and the local culture and so on.

I think I would prefer to stay in a hotel or hotels, since what I really want to do when I travel is see ancient places and ruins and the like.

I love to meet the local people and find out about their local culture. I would be better it they allowed me to do self catering rather that cooked meals for me. I am very fussy with my food and wouldn't want to offend the family. If I was in South America I would enjoy staying with a Spanish speaking family. I would be able to practice the Spanish that I am currently learning. I don't like staying in posh hotels in comfort away from the local people. When traveling I typically stay in locally owned guest houses. Then I meet local people and help the countries economy in a small way.

Good Morning Jennyaijua....the first time that I visit a NEW country, I prefer to stay with/amongst the indigenous people! The beauty of a new country sometimes remains hidden, if you do not share it with a person whom is native to that country. You get the tourists "birds eye view", without seeing the "meat & potatoes" of that area! Locals (indiginous persons) involve you in the traditions of the country! My second trip to the area (unless I remain great friends with my 1st host) I like to spend on my own, to make my own memories. Cheers!

Another advantage of living together with the indigenous people is that you can learn something from them,if it is hard to learn the local language in a short time, then it is absolutely possible to learn local cooking, and bring it home as a present to you families. Thanks for your response.

I like living in a hotel, but if I have the chance to choose, I would rather stay in a private home. When I stay with the locals I get a chance to learn more about the culture and the language, and that is always intersting. I generally prefer staying in a private home, but there is one advantage about staying in a hotel, and that is the chance to be more independent. When you stay in a private home you don't always have your own key and that makes you less independent, but I think that the postive things about staying in a private home outweigh the negative things.
