Would you consider gambling a job?

Some people say that they have a job and that is gambling. They make it a job by going to the gambling table everyday and bringing home money at the end of the day. Sometimes though, they lost all their money and yet they still consider gambling as a way to earn money. I wouldn't consider gambling a job. I have never known a gambler who has improved his life. I know a lot of gamblers who have ruined their life and their family. Could you share your opinions regarding this matter?

I think anyone that says gam bling is their job doesn't want to admit they have a gambling addiction. I've never heard this, but it doesn't surprise me. It's like I heard on the news, a high number of people think buying lottery tickets are the best investment you can make, better than mutual funds.

I think you are right. No gambler wants to admit that gambling is a vice so they cover up by saying they have a job. And yes, lottery has been good business these days. As crisis worsens more people resort to lotteries to try their luck.

They gamble not just for the wins but also to win money. If you remove the money, gambling will be converted to gaming. At the end of the day anything that gives you money to make your living become your job. So yes, I do think gambling is a job.

The difference is, when you go to your job, the only money you pay out is gas in your car,(which you have to do to drive to the casino) and maybe if you buy food for lunch. With gambling, you have to give out money to maybe make money. Unless you own your own business, when you go to work, you are guaranteed the amount of money you're being paid. All you have to do is do your job. Of course in these days trying to find a job may have the same odds as gambling.

Personal preference: Gambling shouldn't be considered a job. Why? Because in most games, you have a 99% chance of losing and 1% chance of winning. Why would you hold your life against that ratio? Anybody who tries to find a shortcut in life will receive their shortcut to the end of life. Go the normal way, and work hard and honestly. Only then, will you achieve true satisfaction and a true life. Also, to point out, I hate the fact that certain people are overpaid (athletes, supermodels, rock stars). That's not fair. These people are the ones making a shortcut to living life. And how many of them are there compared to the world? 1%. 1% of the world's population got lucky, while the others are either unlucky, or working hard. If you want to be part of the 1%, be my guest. But don't blame me once you ruin your life, because while every second passes, you grow older, and time doesn't wait for you.
