White, brown or black?

What kind of skin do you have? I am brown because I am a Filipino. I used to envy people who are fair skinned. But when I got older I learned to love my skin. They say that brown is beautiful and I agree with them. What color is your skin? Do you love it or would you have preferred another color?

I have white skin and in my younger days layed out in the sun trying to get a nice brown skin, how silly I was, the sun does so much damage, today i accept that any colour skin is good, it doesn't matter it is just a cover for what is inside and that is what really matters...

You are absolutely right lilaclady. Color isn't important. What's inside a person is more important.

I think young people love to be fair but when they grown older they learn to accept what they have and make it an asset.

I'm fair skinned.. i love my skin color.. but you know what, when i was in my younger years, i used to be jealous of people who are brown skinned.. i remember myself exposing myself under the heat of the sun but i came to realize that i should be proud of my skin color.. =)

Hello Masmasika! My skin is tan. That's what my husband told me. I am not white nor very brown. I am a filipino and my husband is american. I envy with his skin because it's white but he likes my skin too. He said tan is better than white. When I was younger, I really wanted to have white skin but then when I met my husband, I learned to appreciate my skin.

I'm white. Seriously I don't understand bigots. Unless they're jealous. Why else do so many people sunbathe, except to darken their skin? I don't tan well, I burn real good though! So I am envious of people with color to their skins. Fish belly white doesn't count as color! I know, if I were brown I'd be the victim of hate crimes and so on. (morons) But I find people with color in their skins to be beautiful.

I have white skin. I've always been comfortable with being white. To me it doesn't matter what color skin I am though. I think whatever we have been given is something to be thankful for. All skin types are equal, and all are beautiful.

I am glad to hear that you love your skin, brown is beautiful it is very true. I have fair skin, I go out in the sun and burn within minutes if I am not careful which then turns me a tomato red colour lol! I never tan and I am always really white, I would love to have had a darker colour skin!!

I am from India and my skin color is very light brown more towards white. It is not important what skin color we have, a persons character is more important. I do not bother about the color of the skin of my friends or relatives because we are born with it and there is no use envying others or trying to change the color by artificial means.

I wish people think like you do but some people are not content with their skin and they try to alter it by using skin whiteners or skin tan.

I am a tanned color and i think its hilarious. I have a cousin who is native american and i am darker than she is so she says i can't be white. Both my parents are white and yet i ended up with a lightly tanned skin color. How it happened ill never know...i just say i got a really good tan as a baby and it never went away. I think its funny how most people i am around, there tans fade away during winter time and mine does not. Oh, i love my skin color. I have the skin color most people i know have to pay for.

I'm a blonde with light skin. When I was younger I wanted to be a brunette with straight hair and dark skin. But, you grow out of such fazes. The only disadvantage to my skin color is I burn very easily in the sun. But otherwise I'm content with who I am.

Oh yes, I would not deny I always wanted to have a whiter skin, hehhehe. But what can I do? I was not born maputi. I guess because of too much TV or or too much media hype. Whatever's responsible for our fascination with pale complexions, being fair skinned is so imbued in our culture-in most Asian cultures. That I can't just escape it. I cringe every time I hear being exalted, not because the thought of being maputi is unattractive to me, but because maitim(dark) is uttered in the same breath as pangit. But now I'm hanging on to my tan hehehe. I learned being comfortable. As brown skin is as beautiful as one that is white. I guess we just learn to enhance it. And besides we are lucky of being dark-skin, the more we are dark, the more we have melanin, and melanin provides some protection against skin damage from the sun.

I think a lot of Filipinos want fair skin that is why skin whiteners and whitening soaps are good business here. We want fair skin but white people envy our brown skin.

I'm a white man, but white folks don't really have "white" skin unless they're albino. It's a weird color, white folks skin. I remember when I was young, coloring in pictures, there was never a good color for the skin if I tried to make the person's skin tone resemble mine. It was always easier to color them brown or tan. Wonder why there isn't a better name than "white" for the pale caucasion skin. I've always been surprised when brown-skinned people claim to wish they were pale-skinned because I find brown skin so much more attractive. I think Obama will have a big influence on changing this mind-set for the better among brown-skinned races.

It's funny. White skinned people want to become dark while dark people want to become fair skinned. Yes, I agree that brown is beautiful.
