Yes there is. But it depends on what level you mean. White robe wearing whackos with burning crosses, fortunately are becoming less and less, but they are there. Then there are the average person with tendencies, ie, towel heds, mexicans are lazy, black people are thieves, these things are a lot more prevalent. I know a guy that threw a hissy fit at a gas station down the street, he is a vet and he was drunk, he was yelling that he had to fight for gas over there so the same towel hed could sell it to them here. I do not agree with this mind set. The owner of that gas station is a very nice man. I have never heard anything derogatory out of his mouth. He is just trying to build a business and feed his family. this kind of racism is still bad. We also have a lot of illegal immigrants from mexico and Somalia around here. I am 100% against illegal immigrants, however, spouting racial slurs does not help this, instead, I serve on local boards and am working to ensure that this does not become a good place for them settle.

yeah it's still here in american, to me it's both sides really. i know some black who are but then they meet me, i tell them why hate me for the pass? i wasn't living back then, nor you and white people blame the blacks for things as well. to me people need to stop hating, there is only the human race. i will never hate anyone for the color of the skin or being different from me. but i have notice this, black people will talk to you more then whites. since i've been working with this company, black will ask us if we need water or anything well the white slams the door on our faces and hand us the check. too much hate we all need to love.

There will always be racist people, in America and every else. You can be racist against other ethnic groups, or white people, or even against your own ethnicity. In this day and age, the social norm is to not be racist and be more accepting. Because of this open racism has decreased and it could seem like racism is slowly disappearing. It is decreasing as we break barriers through global communication but there always will be racist people around.

There are definitely still racist people in america. As a matter of fact the only difference between then and now is then they were more open to racism and now it's more of a "behind closed doors" sorta thing. I still have hope though cause I believe that nowadays people are a lot more open minded. It's not as many ignorant racists as there use to be there are definitely still some out there.
