I have two cats, Jake the male cat is such a bully to Scoots, my female cat. Jake acts just like a child, when the cat's away the mouse will play. When my husband and I go to bed at night, within five minutes, we hear a cat fight. Jake is attacking Scoots. We have been bring Jake into our room and closing the door so that Scoots can sleep at night. Jake makes so much noise crying and scratching at the door, that now we put Scoots in the bathroom with food, water and a litter box so that Jake does not bother her.
Do you have pets that you have to separate?

The only time I ever have to separate any of the pets is when they eat. Two of the dogs do not deal well with eating at the same time. One guards the food so the other can't have it. Even if we put it on opposite ends of the room. The one dog will go back and forth between the bowls.

My cats are like that, rather Jake is. The bowls are on separate sides of the room, and if Scoots go to one bowl, Jakes goes and pushes her away, when she goes to the other bowl he comes and does the same thing. This can go on at least four times before Jake stops being bossy.

I would separate them. Also, I think that cats like the night time. One time, we had a single cat who seemed stay up all nitght running around the house playing. When he was able to get into our room, he would stand on my chest, waiting for my alarm clock to wake me.

No, I never have to separate my pets at night. I have 2 indoor kitties and a dog, and they all get along fine. In this really cold weather we're having right now, as soon as I crawl into bed the dog hops on, and then the 2 kitties curl up around her. I guess I'm lucky with that (not lucky they choose my bed, but that they all get along so great hahaha)
I have had ones before that didn't get along, in the beginning, like yours. Eventually they finally just started ignoring each other, kind of like a truce. Could it be that Jake just wants to play? I know my kitties lots of times are more active in the night than in the day. Also, all animals have a pecking order: "I was here first" and you're the low kitty on the list. Sometimes animals are just plain hard to figure out aren't they?!!

Actually, we had Scoots first. but Jake came in with an Alpha way about him, he has been dominating ever since. Scoots is so docile.
