Ants in the apartment

Recently I've discovered that there is an ant infestation in my apartment. They seem to be coming from the vent. I have tried raid and other ant traps, but after a few weeks they keep coming back. I guess I should consider myself lucky that they are not cockroaches...at least ants stay in a line and follow each other. What should I do?
