Do you ever buy things just to "keep up with the Joneses"?

I rarely do that. I usually buy things which I really need. I am not a natural born shopper. But my sister, yes. Sometimes she bought shoes though she have many pairs of shoes, just because her friend bought new shoes and they fitted her. She even cut her hair because her friend did that What about you? Have someone else ever inspired you to buy things?

My father and my brother like to buy things. When my brother has bought something my father wants to buy the same thing or something better, and the same goes the other way around It can be quite amusing sometimes at least my mother and I think so. I have never been that way. I am not very materialistic, and I don't buy a lot of things. I buy the things that I want, and I am not very interested in what others have bought.

That's funny that males like shopping and doing that to keep up with others. Shopping will never be my hobby. I even frequently asked my sister to buy things I need, and she really enjoyed it.

When I was a teenager I longer to look and dress as 'everyone' else did. Yet I also wanted to be 'just me'. I learned to look around me, to pick what I really liked and not what everyone else said they liked. I found a clothing style that I was happy with and that fit me. I often wonder just who made the fashion 'experts' opinions so valuable? Who are those people to tell me what I should or should not wear, eat, decorate my house in??? Who are others to label my taste good or bad? It's just MINE. I would not be happy with their ideas of how they should live, so why should I give them the right to say how I should. I don't insist others CONFORM to my standards. And that is exactly what following 'fashion' is, it is CONFORMITY, it takes away your right to think for yourself.

Yeah, I found that is fairly common problem for teenagers. They try to dress like everyone else does, at least like the popular ones do. Even for the males But, as we don't like shopping, we just try to get everyone's haircut.

No, I don't acquire anything to keep up with the Joneses. I don't like shopping enough to do that LOL My needs are met and that's enough for me. When you ask if someone else ever inspired me to buy things, that I could probably say yes... but not to keep up with them. I would certainly seek out and maybe take a friend's recommendation on something that I was looking to buy, if they already had a similar item.

That's good. Everybody has different needs so it is pointless to keep up with others. And, I am with you in not considering shopping as hobby.
