We are only human, we do feel this sometimes. I just want to ask what do you do when ur experiencing depression times. I love to read inspirational book like "life is beautiful" by Bo Sanchez. I also want to run during weekends or join aerobic class to focus my attention on myself and not on the problems. I felt the pain of it, so i am also interested on how do you fight depression. Thank u in advance if your interested sharing on this discussion.

One thing that I do, when I'm feeling depressed, is read. Reading has always been something that I've enjoyed, ever since I was a kid. And it still helps to cheer me up a little, when I'm depressed. It may not help everyone, but it certainly helps me. Another thing that I do is watch a movie. It also helps me a lot. I usually try to watch a good comedy, to help lift my spirits. Meditation has also helped me on many occasions. To many to count, to be honest. Anyway, these are just a few activities that help me feel better.

I'll keep my mind as calm as much time as possible. Then I'll proceed to read some inspirational books to read if I am not able to do I'll watch some comedy collection movies from my DVD library. If I am not satisfied I'll try to spend time more on with my son to play with him and make him happy. If more I need to be encouraged then I'll put my favorite song to start dancing on my way to exploit my feelings.
Sometime I'll do yoga which I know very well how to calm down our thought and fire our chackras to gain energy from our body, which is an meditation thing that will keep our sole and body in a straight line to do our work more comfort fully.

Sometimes, when I cannot take it anymore, I cry it all out.. sort of like breaking down. When I'm done crying, I stand up again with my head high and go on with what I have to do. Sometimes, I unwind like have a massage, watch a movie, a foot spa or a pedicure. Watching TV and sleeping will also do. I also realized what wonders watching my 2 and a half year old daughter can do.

I myself like to read the inspirational books also. But sometimes it is hard to get through a book. If I don't feel like reading I will just watch television. My favorite things to watch when I am down and out are sitcoms. I can just sit and watch them for hours.
I also like to watch stand up comedians. Sometimes I catch a few good ones online. Or I will turn on Comedy Central at the right time and catch someone on there. Jon Reep is one of my favorites. I also like Jeff Dunham with the puppets. He's really funny.

when I am depressed, I often go to bed, but I can't fall asleep, begining to think the depressing thing and try to find a way to solve it, I strive to make myself calm and view the whole thing impersonally, for me , it's a useful method to get rid of the depression and find a way out of it.U can have a try.
my MOM has another way, watching fishes in fish jar is her way to forget trouble things .

Depression varries from one person to another. There are problems that are seemingly heavy for one person but might just be light for others. Whatever the gravity of it still depression affects a lot of people in varrious ways. I don't really think there is a certain and sure way of battling depression in life since I believe such feeling is relative. With what you have done yourself, I guess you are in a step of fighting depressive feelings; doing such productive activities like you did would be a help.
In my case I always have the tendency to busy myself w/ entertaining stuff like the tv and the pc where I can feel relaxation once bored. I also go to malls just for window shopping if I have the time. I am also fond of reading inspirational books about depressions and other books that talks about some advises about life's negative conditions and from there I get help. It also help to open up yourself w/ those whom you considered friends as it easies the burden inside. However, whatever is the cause of each person's depression the best way for me is prayer; I have proven it and it really helps. Constant communication w/ God gives you relief.

I think we all have to try several things when we are dealing with depression. A few of the things that I have found that work for me are exercise, music and inspirational books. My favorite method of dealing with depression is to take a hike and enjoy nature. I have done this in city parks, in urban settings the point is to get outside and enjoy. I prefer to hike beside a river that is close to my house. Listening to the sounds of nature has a way of preventing me from focusing on myself and my problems and often helps me put things in perspective.

When I am depressed, I go to the church to attend mass, attend novena prayers, visit other churches, like Quiapo church where you can join the long pile of a crowd wishing to touch the hand or foot of the Black Nazarene or If Saturday attend the family appointment with El Shaddai. This is a happy gathering of rich and poor, young or old saying and singing praises to the Lord Although this is a routine for me in a week. When depressed however the more I observed doing these even alone. To avoid feeling much depression, I would visit my friends, talk and maybe go dining out with them. I also can just sit down at my pc and blog the thing that depresses me, by this way my depression would be lessened.

Bo Sanchez has written a lot of inspirational articles. They for sure can truly uplift the spirit. When I am down I usually take a very long walk/jog too. That gives me time to think more and more and take away my stress. Aerobics can definitely help you relieve stress and tension. Doing the things we love can help fight depression. Taking care of pets, reading inspirational messages, dancing, singing or even cooking. Finding the solution and not dwelling on our problems or not blaming ourselves can help. Life is an adventure and we should go fight the challenges that will come along the way. All these will make us strong us a person.

Yes its definitely not blamin our selves. But sometimes we cant avoid it, and if that idea reaches my mind, i told myself God will help me find the way. I lose weight coz of depression and i dont want to lose anymore. it feels like my health is suffering a lot and i found comfort reading the books that inspire me.

Actually I think you´re doing the right things, inspirational books are great anytime but special when we´re depressed, but the best one is definitely working out because you´re burning calories and eliminating toxines that contain all these stress cells or at least that´s how I feel when I´m going through some stressful times, personally I would also recommend watching cartoons, I don´t know how old you are (I´m 43) and to me that´s a great therapy specially the ones from my time, another thing I do, and some people find it weird, is that I go to the nearest airport and watch airplanes take-off and landing for hours, that is one of my favorite things to do even when I´m not depressed.

I am generally quite a positive person, although I never use to be, and besides my faith being a rock for me, I also found that a book by Norman Vincent Peale - 'The Power of Positive Thinking', has changed my whole outlook.
If you can get a copy of the book, although the copy I have is years old and I am not sure it is even still in print, but you would probably find a copy at a thrift store, you would find as you read it, it would change your way of thinking totally.
If you can't get hold of the book, you can go to the guideposts website, which you can print out extracts from the book.
Well worth taking a look.

To be honest I am rarely that depressed as to be seeking to do something to fight it. Long ago when I wasn't married and was near that age, I felt depressed. Then I went out and met people discussed my hopes and fears with them and encouraged them to come up with their problems and shared my own experiences. In suggesting solutions to their problems my depression simply vanished.
The next time I felt depressed was when I felt empty in my 45th year. The reason was I felt I didn't do what intended to in life.I fought that feeling by Blogging on several sites. I taught people what I knew about. One beautiful way to fight depression or the feeling of emptiness is to meet as young people as possible, and discuss with them their hopes and fears. Sometimes it would be small kids. I would play with them as if I am one of them. It helps. Nothing works like doing good to others. Enthusiasm is really contagious. Before long one is out of it.
I read religious books when I feel depressed. In Hinduism for instance one could connect with God in an Impersonal and Intellectual manner or by Emotionally connecting to Him/Her, by expressing your feelings of helplessness. I have found that this has often taken me out of depression.

well I love to listen to music when im depressed. Itry not to cry and stuff like that. I just listen to music and write down what im feeling in my journal. I love to write and everything and it really clams me down. When im depressed though I usually listen to slow country music.
