Does Anyone know about internet information system(IIS) on vista?

I need to host my own site from my pc, so i enabled IIS and configured settings as per instructiona, i set my page properly, and tried the local host command from my browser, the page opens perfectly, but when i try my external ip, it goes to my DSL modem settings page, i believee, i should change ports and configure things out, I'm a newbie to networking, can anyone help me sort this out???
