Finally got a promotion and decent raise!

Yay, after working at the bank a year in December, I got promoted from Teller I to Teller II, but it was only a $0.40 raise. This week, I got promoted from Teller II to Back-up Head Teller, and it came with a raise of $1.10 -- MUCH BETTER! Would you be upset if all you got was a $0.40 raise after working at a company for a year and as a good employee? How would you feel in contrast if your raise was $1.10? Would that satisfy you?

With Today's economic situation you have to be thankful your working. A lot of very talented and hard working individuals are out of work. So be very thankful for the raise, it shows that your company appropriates you enough to invest in you. Once the economic situation gets a little better, you may be in for a slightly higher raise. Congrats!

wow that is wonderful, you made those promotions so fast, I would love to be promoted, sometimes the money is not as important as the fact that I am respected as a valuable employee.

Congratulations on your promotion. I used to work as a teller for Wells Fargo, and I know it can be hard. As for the bigger raise, I would definitely be more satisfied with the $1.10 raise, but that should go up again for you in the next year. As a matter of fact, it's been almost a year since my last pay raise. Hmmmm, time to start working extra hard before going to talk to the boss-lady...

Wow! Congrats…any extra money is sure to bring the smiles back in these times. In my company, I am here for more than 10 years now. We get our yearly raises from the month of April when a new financial year begins and so the increased salary is in our hands in the month of May. Yes, I would be disappointed if the increase was less than the average. On an average, we get a raise of Rs. 1500 annually which is approximately $30.

Actually first of all is it per day $1.10 Raise? if so, not bad. the economy is all not good these days. we even expect very less growth this year although I am working here for more than 2.5 yrs.

Congratulations to you... you are so lucky to have that raise... and i think you deserve it... in my case... i have been working at my current job for a year and a half now... but no sign of being given a raise... i am planning to ask for one when the time frame becomes two years... and i surely hope that my boss will give me a decent one...

Congratulations! I think it's good for you to have a promotion already. As the global economy becomes worse and many people lose the jobs. It's good enough to have a job. And it's nicer to even have a promotion and a decent raise:) I love China

Hi there! Is this on an hourly basis kind of increase? If so, well not that bad at all. I'm sure in the coming years you'll be receiving a lot more than this. Good luck and persevere in your job.

I worked for a company once that gave yearly raises of about 25-50 cents. Didn't even keep up with inflation. It was awful because the longer you were there, the more was expected of you, yet you didn't make much more money for it. $1.10 is pretty good though. My husband usually gets around $1 a year-except this year, with the economy the way it is, I guess he's just lucky to still have a job. Congrats on the promotion and raise. I bet it gives you a renewed motivation to go to work every day and perform well.

If it was a cost of living increase then it wouldn't matter, now if it was a merit raise then I'd want it to be reflective of my hard work.

Knowing what I know now yes I would be satisfied. Anything right now would be great for me. I now understand the phrase "you don't miss your water until the well runs dry". I worked for a company for 24 years and they closed. I got another job and worked for that one for 9 years now they are closed. I am presently unemployed. I am saying to you that you are blessed to have a job with the economy they way it is now. I was looking at the news today and they were speaking of the cities that are going to loose jobs this year. Its not over yet. Congratulations on your promotion and your raise you are one of the blessed and lucky ones.

It is not bad when you think of the worldwide economy we have today. Keeping a job is not easy job itself. Being promoted is much difficult. You are lucky because of your own hard work. Be thankful and hopeful! Maybe when the economy is improved, you can have a better salary than what you have now, right?

Well first i would like to start by congradulating you on your promotion and raise. That is so awsome and that is a nice raise I bet that will help you financially. To answer you question now, I guess it would depend on where i was working and the raises other people have recieved and what they were making with the same postiton, if i was making the same as other people at the same position i think i would be a little dissapointed but I would also be happy that I got that and I would keep working hard to get to where you are now. However if people in the same postition were making more then me or recieved a higher raise I think i would go to my boss and say something but i wouldnt want to raise too much of a stink about it and loose my job, because then i would be worse off, unless I had another job lined up. But thats just me and i have never actually been in that situation to know for sure how I would feel or what I would do, so I am only making an educated guess.
