Safety Belt is very important. Do you use it everytime you drive the car?
For me, I seldom use the safety belt unless I am driving in highway or city. If I am driving in village or small town, I wont buckle up. Now, our government enforce a rule which rear seat belt must be used everytime there is a passenger behind. At first, we feel not comfortable to use it, however it is good for our safety.
How often do you use the seat belt?

I almost always fasten my seat belt. When I'm driving on a highway, I always do this. It doesn't bother me, because I'm used to it. In my country, one has to fasten one's seat belt, even in rear seats and in Taxis. Only busses have no seat belts. However, a seat belt can give a false impression of security, but in can possibly safe one's life in case of accident. So I can recommend to use it everytime.

Here in Australia the fines are quite hefty if you get caught not wearing a safety belt so that's one reason why I always buckle up. The second and the most important is that I have a little girl and my safety is important to her. I don't really think about it I just put my belt on before I start driving I can't not do it!

Until around a year ago I never used seat belts. Since I am not sure what the penalty is for not using them, and the fact that I am not the driver, I where them all the time.

Please get used to wearing a seat belt and make sure each person in your vehicle buckles up, also. They do save lives. If you make it a point to buckle up each time you get into your vehicle, even if it's just a trip to the corner store, you will f9ind that it will become such a habit that you will not feel comfortable without the seat belt.

Hi,
I don't drive... But in future if I happen to drive, I will surely use the belts. Safety first, rest next..! Nothing is going to be ruined if I use the safety belt. Though we feel disturbed, but yes I feel RULES are RULES...so as a obedient citizen I will definitely follow...
Take care friend

When I bought my first car seatbelts were not mandatory but my parents insisted that I have them fitted all the same. In Australia it has been compulsory for all new vehicles to be fitted with seat belts for about 40 years now. From memort,m initially it was front seat only but later they introduced a law where both back and front had to have seat belts fitted.
It has been compulsory to wear seat belts here in Australia since the mid-1960's, if not earlier than that. Yes I always wear my seatbelt, whether driving the truck or the car because I have seen what can happen to someone who does not wear their seatbelt and is an accident. It might seem that it is "safe" not to wear a sealbelt when in a village or small countryt town, but accidents can happen in those places too and they can also have serious outcomes.
Yes it can be a nuisance when we initially have to wear a seat belt, but they are afdjsutable so you can have them at the right length for youself. However the biggest attraction is that statistics prove that wearing a seat belt does save lives. That is the most important critia for wearing them.

I never leave where I am parked without my seat belt on and if I have passangers they have to buckle up or they can walk. I am very firm about this rule.

My seat belt goes on as soon as I'm in the car. Accidents can happen even if you are in town - that's why they are unexpected. It drives me nuts when a passenger wont wear theirs - they also get told if there's a ticket written for them not wearing a seat belt they are paying it because its THEIR choice. If they cant agree to that then they can walk.

It seems to just be second nature now to put on the belt when I get in.

Except for short distances on private property I wear my seat belt whenever I'm in the car because it's the law.

I hate safety belts. When I was younger there were none at all in Trinidad. Then they made this law about them and have caught hell getting people to use them. Every where in go in a car people have to tell me to put on the safety belt. One night I witnessed where a safety belt saved a man's life in an accident that was not his fault.
They are good and necessary but I hate them.
Drive carefully and you won't need so many of these precautions and there will be a lot less road accidents.

In my opinion, drive carefully is a must for everyone who own a car. Accident can happen anytime, any place. We cannot know when, where or how the accident happen. Therefore, safety belt is a way to safe our life if accident happen. Although you hate it (even me sometime feel lazy to use it) but our opinion is that we should use it for own own safety. At the end, you buckle up for your own safety, not others.

At first I did not as I am not used to using them but while being here in the USA, where putting on the seat belt is a law to every commuters i was forced to and am beginning to be used to it by now. It's a safety measure though.

Not all the time, but i do wear them mostly because there is police in normal cars who sometimes stop cars and give them traffic summon. So i take care of that, and i dont want to have summon which i think is waste of money. And anyways car seat belt gives you safety. SO i dont mind wearing it. Be happy

We never used seatbelts in the Philippines. The law now there expected drivers at least to wear seatbelts making them feel awkward of doing such. I think it is created for safety and should be used at all times not only because there are cops. Here in the US it is a law implemented well. Drivers and passengers alike wear this for safety.
