Other than having low energy levels today my mood is really good but I heard on the TV just now that today is called Blue Monday and is supposed to be the most depressing day. Well if we think it is going to be it will I guess but my day is good and I intend it to remain that way. What mood are you in today? Huggles. Ellie :D

Ha! I never heard of Blue Monday, but I can tell you that mine certainly was! My marriage almost ended!
I still don't know if it has any chance of surviving, but my husband and I have been, well, at odds, to put it nicely. He told me on Saturday that I was never to have my family over here any more as long as they come over to help me out in any way. "It's my job to do that" he says. The problem is, he doesn't do it!
Yesterday, Monday, I reached the end. I told him exactly how I felt and if that meant that we sell the house and go our separate ways, so be it. He was making me feel as though I was not allowed to have anyone over to our house. If they did come over, he would run and hide and give me the cold shoulder for days afterwards.
He wants to be a hermit, except he wants me with him. I told him I can't do that. I will NOT give up my family for him and if he can't accept my family (who all get along quite nicely and are respectful, even of him although he doesn't deserve it) then we have to get divorced. When it comes to a choice between my family and my husband, my family is going to win, hands down!
Anyway, he's promised (once again) that he'll try harder and that I can have my family over any time I want and he won't act like a spoiled little child who isn't getting his way. (Isn't that magnanimous of him?)
So, that was my Monday. Why is it called Blue Monday? Whatever it is, I'm living proof that there is a bonafide reason behind it being called that!

Hi Mentalward, Certainly sounds like you had a tough time of it. It is called Blue Monday as it is the anti - climax after Christmas and New Year still a couple of weeks before payday and the bills all start arriving in from the Christmas Spending so I have been told. It is only this Monday and that has now past so hopefully you and your husband can move on and start building the relationship back and him become less of a hermit. Huggles. Ellie :D

Hi Scorpio, So by rights I should be feeling really sad as I got paid early on 19th December when camp shut for Christmas break and my next pay packet is 1st February but I am happy and there is still money in the account. Perhaps as I live by my means and don't overspend at all and have no credit cards helps eh! Thanks for the information. I guessed it was something like that. Huggles. Ellie :D

Hi Scorpio, Do you know the exact reason for it being called Blue Monday as I am only guessing and have picked up a few reasons through this discussion. Sorry that you have been feeling this way today. I have been extremely tired but my mood has been good. I have been out four times today twice in the rain and once in snow so I know how dark and dismal the weather has been. Tomorrow is another day and I hope you are happy and smiling again. Happy huggles. Ellie :D

Hi hun, i'm fine really and feel ok now, just felt low but ok! this is what I found out about Blue Monday

Psychologists say 'Blue Monday' marks the point where the credit crunch, worries over Christmas bills and the long, dark winter will all take their toll.
The date was selected because the start of the working week is disliked by many workers and in the middle of the month many have spent most of their last pay packet but still have a lengthy wait for the next one.
hope that helps you.

Hi there Ellie,
Well just as everyone else is said I did not know that today was blue Monday as you say. Is a call blue Monday because it's the shortest day of the year? I seem to remember hearing something about this awhile back, but of course I can't seem to remember where or when exactly. My brain is generally filled with all sorts of useless knowledge.
As for my mood today, well, I march to the beat of my own drum, and usually am heading the opposite direction of everyone else. Today of course is no different, I actually feel really good today. In fact, probably the best I have felt in a week or so, go figure!
It's a good thing I feel good though, because I have to go to a doctor's appointment and threaten to get really loud. I have been waiting for surgery, which I have been approved for, for over a year and I told them the last time I was there, if they didn't move soon I was going to the media.
So now, lucky me, I have to follow through and be prepared to actually get very loud..... But I'm prepared, as I will never threaten to do anything that I'm not actually prepared to follow through with..... Wish me luck it could be a long day! The worst thing about it, is that yelling, and stomping my feet, and demanding what I need for my health, is so against my nature, basically, I would prefer to be a wallflower, but life has other plans for me. Again, lucky me.
Happy Mylotting

Hi Wheel, I think it is to do with the anti-climax of hristmas and New Year and bills arriving and payday not hear yet, I really don't know but they keep mentioning it on the radio and tv, but like you I am happy and not depressed. I am sorry to hear that you have health problems but rather than shout just speak clearly and firmly if need be. I got housed once by threatening to go to the papers that the landlord had been paid £1500 to put a fire escape in and hadn't and the fire extinguishers hadn't been checked since 1988 but because I owned a motorcycle I was an animal and he wanted me out, it was in fact the boyfriend of a girl in one of the other flats with his bike making the noise but I got housed from it so I wasn't gonna tell, he, he. I wish you luck. I'd grab one of Rosekittys brownies anyway, she has just given me a freshly baked one, the day just gets better. Huggles. Ellie :D

I didn't know that! Why was yesterday supposed to be the most depressing day? I never heard of such a thing before... Is there a day like this every year? Is it the same? I'm just curious...
I've been feeling a bit down lately anyway, so I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary on monday. Just the usual problems and feelings...

Hi Moonlight_Dream, Yes it is this Monday every year and it is because all the Christmas spending credit card bills arrive and payday is still nearly two weeks away and people are generally down cos of the winters months and the anti-climax of Christmas and the New Year but I don't have any credit so I guess that is why it didn't affect my mood and I was happy. It is a cold, but sunny day today. I feel weird. I don't like how I feel. I'm bipolar and try very hard to keep myself in an even mood. Today I just don't like how I feel. It's not a depressing mood, but it is a very unsettling mood. Literally, I keep praying that it will go away.

Hi ellie,
Ohh really? I am not in the good mood today but I am trying to be positive and happy! LOL!
I am bothered with something! It's been 2 days I cannot dispose(you know) and I don't like it!
Anyway, I am listening to music so that this bad feeling will not overpower me!

Well, as I'm not feeling too well I would tend to agree with whoever named it Blue Monday. Um, so my mood isn't great, but my daughter's making me laugh and stopping me from getting too down!
Why was it named this, and why is today supposed to be the most depressing? I imagine it's a mixture of the weather and the economic climate?! (As I'm answering from mail notifications I haven't read any other responses yet).
I'm glad that you're having a good day, and are not letting the concept of Blue Monday influence it for you. And I hope you have a good evening too!

Thanks for the healing hugs, think they helped! I'm glad you're still feeling happy :o)
Yes, she is a funny girl, and she likes to entertain ; a great tonic for when I feel under the weather! She's picked up some American phrases from her cousins, and one thing she was doing today was going around the house saying "good job!" to inanimate objects.

Hi Shelly, I have been trying to find out but so far it seems that it is the anti climax after Christmas and the New Year and all the bills arriving ahead of payday. I am feeling good myself but I don't have any credit I pay as I go so to speak but I think this is the meaing behind it all. Hope the weather improves again. Huggles. Ellie :D

i think thats somewhat correct..yep! i'm totally upset. i'm a college student and i had my practical examination(computer science) today! the question given for me is a tough one but to my utter surprise the answer was already stores in the computer( C program)..and when the teacher came to verify the answer,i mean the output of the C program, she found out that that i have opened a saved file and asked me write the program again in a seperate paper.Even though she could leave me(because thats the final exam) she asked me to write it and i only wrote the half and so she reduced me 5 marks..and i must confess that i have blamed her in whatever words i can....but she deserves it(!)...
anyhow i'm totally upset today!its good to know that you're cool!
HAVE A NICE DAY!(Wish me the same!)

It's already Wednesday now but I am not too affected by Mondays because I work from home now doing what I love so each day is pretty good. When I used to work in an office I admit Mondays were harder to take especially after a long weekend or when I came back from leave!
