hii myloters, have you ever felt that adding links to the discussions should not be a pronblem here. There are some discussions where adding links is a must, like getting reviews about your website and also if you want to provide some helpful links while answering some discussions. I really think that they should allow links in discussions or there should be an odd interest where one can add links to there discussions.

Mylot regulations say 'NO' so we need to abide with their rulings. I know links are useful tool for reference and I have been quite stubborn and allow myself to response to discussions with links in it and each time my points are deducted. So now I will not response to any discussion that has links even though the links is not referral link I will just stay away from it.

Ozone, mylot regulations especially on the issue of links can be very misleading. They act on complains and without verification they will just delete the discussion that has link. I think I had enough of it and would not compromise on discussions with links.

If I am not mistaken, links are allowed in your discussion as long as they are not your referral link.
I may be mistaken but I have posted reference links in my discussions without any problems.
I think it is nice to add reference points in discussion if they are online.
The MyLot Guideline Don'ts referring to links in discussions stated:
"Posing promoting other affiliate programs or that do not pertain to the discussion, are not allowed".
This Guideline can be found here:
http://www.mylot.com/o/guidelines.aspx
and is suggested reading for all MyLot members.
Thank you for this discussion.

infomation links are allowed, just write in your discussion that the link is not a referral it is for information only. What is not allowed is a link that asks someone for money or a link that makes someone sign up for something.

if we add link to explain some discussoin, it is allowed here but if u add it for earning its not. I have got many responses or comments where my friends have given me links to read some good articles and they are not deleted, like some days earlier i had responded to the harmful effects of microwave and had asked the friend that where she read about thoase harmful effects, she gave me the link in comment and that was ok....for earning its right that they don't allow, coz u know that mylot will not be so beautiful as it is today, more than half of the discussions will be filled with links and trying to get refferals, and mylot will lose its charm.

As far as I am aware links are allowed if they are relevant. However you should not be giving links to your website for reviews etc. Or for referral links to other sites!
I will post a link if I have obtained information from a particular website or if it has information of relevance to the post!

I have added links and have answered many post with links in them. I feel that it is a necessity to have links so that people can get more information on the subject of what is being posted. Maybe it was a glitch that you were unable to post your link or it thought it was a referral link. All you would have to do maybe is leave the .com off of it and tell others to copy and paste and add the .com to it to be able to view your site you wanted them to..

I think it is essential and proper etiquette to supply links if you make a statement of fact in discussions, such as describing an event or information that could be helpful for the reader. Usually people summarize an article or news item and then provide the link so the reader can follow up if he/she wishes.
I find it always irritating when people post items that are obviously copied from another source and then forget to acknowledge the source by a link.
On the other hand it is against the Mylot rules to post links to your website or websites that a person promotes for the purpose of earning money. I think that is correct since this is a discussion forum.

I have seen links around in here, and they are not a problem.. Most discussions started about certain happeningsa in the world, often had links attached to them, and they are still around ^_^ So i guess as long as your links are related to your post, it should be ok..
Those links not allowed are usually referral links or promoting of other sites.

Hi ya vipinl
Well I think sometimes it is justified to add a link to a discussion but when someone is trying to influence people to join other sites for their own financial gain I don't think it is appropriate!

I have seen many sites become totally non friendly & a waste because the members use ot only as a dumping gropund for links.
if mylot allows it, i am afraid that even mylot can go that way. I have seen that moderators are quite tolerable to non commercial links. In one the responses to my question, the moderator had just removed the personal referal link & kept the main site link.
Regarding your doubt of website reviews, such discussions do not get much responses in other forums like sizeofpaper etc.

By allowing place links on myLot it will ruin the atmosphere, spammers and easy money earners will go crazy.
I accept that sometimes it's useful to place a link for letting others see some good stuff but it isn't such a big thing to ruin the myLot, I think.
If you wish to place a link, do it and people who'll be interested will copy -- paste the link you have suggested to see.
Good Luck!

I have used links in a lot of discussions. It isn't against the rules unless you are using affiliate links. If you are wanting to add a relevant link to a discussion then it is fine. In fact, it can add to a discussion. The problem comes when people who are trying to make money by getting others to join different programs and sites under them use links in discussions. Not only is this frustrating to readers, but it is a form of SPAM. Use links respectfully and you will find that your discussions won't be deleted...after a fair number of posts...I know.

MYLOT does allow links in posts if the links are relevant to the topic or to support our opinion.
any about reviewing sites, i don't think it is allowed. if it is allowed, a lot of discussions with only site links will come up. i have seen a new mylotter who started about 6 discussions with his BLOG link and asking mylotters to subscribe to his BLOG. all his discussions were deleted.

Hey vipinl! I agree that on occasion some discussions should
be allowed to add links. But, for whatever reason mylot admin
doesn't want links to be allowed. I guess they have their
reasons. It is probably the types of links that they are
worried about that might be added. If they were to allow links
then that would mean that they would have links added that
they don't feel are proper in some cases in discussions so
they feel they have to say that none should be allowed. I
can understand their way of thinking. It is their site and
we have to abide by their rules.
