I know it might not be much to some of you that read this, but this to me is a really big deal. Some of you who are my friends here may know that I do not have any friends in my real life and that I have currently been trying to make friends with the help of facebook. Well I have over the last few weeks been talking to mums on facebook that I know from school and trying to build up some friendships and today when I went down to school to pick my kids up I was handed an invitation to a party for me and my hubby!! I was just so excited about it that I have had to come on here straight away and tell someone ha ha!!
Anyone else have any social events or occasions coming up this year that they want to share?

Thanx gabs, of course I will keep in touch. I will get round to emailing you soon, to be honest I seem to have less time on the computer these days and when I do come on I end up on facebook, oh and shopping on ebay!!!

Oh, that sounds like so much fun. We don't often get invited to parties. The last party we were invited to was years ago when my oldest son's Godmother was adopting her daughter, she wanted to have a little party to celebrate. We didn't end up going though because the friend had been acting very odd the few months up until that, and we were falling out.
Other than that the only events we go to without the children are hubby's company x mas parties, but I haven't even bothered to go the last 2 years, and he didn't go this past year himself. It's just not worth the effort to go really.
I'll have to wait until all the kids are a bit older to look forward to such things again, since it's so difficult and expensive to find a sitter, and I'm not overly crazy about letting the in laws babysit.

I am hoping so! We have not been invited to a party for years, so it is a real treat, I have just been to all my fave shops on ebay to find something to wear! I made hubby help me decide on what will be appropriate, I mean I have not got a clue!!! I am OK for a babysitter until the end of April as my eldest son sits for us, but if he goes in RAF then I will be back to being stuck at home, although my hubbys neices are now 13 and 14 so I can always go and ask them!!

I think some black slacks and a nice blouse will be fine. That way you look dressed up in case it's a bit of a fancy party, but you'll also blend in with anyone casually dressed in jeans and t-shirts.
I'm definitly looking forward to my kids growing up a bit so the oldest can babysit for me. By the time my little one is 5, the oldest will be 15 and at those ages I should be able to trust him, not to mention the twins will be about 10, so they can help out.

It is in a couple of weeks, my next dilemma is what to wear, so there may be a help me discussion because I have not been to a party for a long time I really do not know what to wear.

Hi Gemini, Oh that is fantastic, I am really pleased for you. Facebook does really seem to have made a difference. Go and have fun and really enjoy. The next party I have on the calendar is my friend's daughter's 21st on the 4th of July which I need to travel to Surrey for the weekend for. Huggles. Ellie :D

hello gemini_rose
whoo hoo! i feel your excitement about the party that you-all got invited to. that is great! and that is cool that you got together with other Mom's in your area like that on facebook's website. i do not have a facebook account. i probably do not need an account with facebook's website either. lol i really do not have the time to visit anymore websites than i already do. but have a ball at the party! and as far as any parties or anything right now for me, nothing planned anytime soon. but at the end of February is my ten year old son's birthday, so i'll plan something for his birthday.
take care and have a beautiful afternoon.

You go girl...use the coolest thing going to make friends..the internet.
WE have a wedding coming up and I am going out to dinner tomorrow night with a friend. We don't have a lot of social life, my husband works a swing including weekends and I work 6 days a week and am exhausted the rest of the time.

How exciting, gemini_rose. I hope you and your husband are able to attend and have a wonderful time. Let's know about how it goes.
I have a few social occassions coming up that I am looking forward to. One is a fortieth birthday party for a friend's husband. She has been planning it for sometime and it should be a good time.

It has been really hard, and the thing is I am quite shy until I get to know people so I have taken real big steps to try and get a bit of a social life. I need to do it though and hopefully it will pay off.

Hi,dear friend,
I can understand your feelings..You know what ,I am the kind of person who do not like to making friends ,and I want to make a change as you did ..You are really lucky since now you have such a lot of friends with the help of mylot and can join a party ..a sort of happiness in life ~~~~~
Last summer I was just coming across one of my friends in my friend's home .then this friend summon a lot of my classmates in my high school (actually I don't even know),he just want to give me a suprise, what's more to let me know that being with friends is a kind of pleasure in our daily life and we can't live without friends .I remember to this day that "just that day I knew what happiness really means and it is also my happiest day I have ever experienced "
Here molly sent all her good lucks to you .

it is really nice to be invited to anything!!! i know the feeling, it is crazy but you feel like you belong...
i use facebook as well... if you like, add me... i mean, even though we dont see each other, that doesn't mean we cant be your real friends in real life. sometimes, i feel that people here are more real than those i spend real time with. the office for example, some people here are like plastics!!! if you've ever heard the expression.
good day. (by the way, how do you add a smiley in this page???)

Sounds like it will be so much fun for you.. I hope you have a great time and start making new friends.. Staying at home with kids all of the time is no fun for an adult, everyone needs a change and some adult friendships.. Have fun..

Hi gemini,
Wow..that's cool! I am new in this place and I am also trying to find good friends! I met my schoolmate in College back home through Friendster and her baby will be celebrating his first birthday!
Hubby and I will be going there. She lives one hour and 20 minutes drive from where we live! I am excited too!

Hello, gemini_rose.
Why don't you make new friends? It should not be hard to meet people. Just by walking on the streets, going somewhere, any place is a good place to make new friends. I'm glad you have been invited! It is really advised for you to go and behave well, haha!
I have probably many events coming this year. It is just beginning. I was invited to play bowling at the 16th. I went. And it was a lot of fun. I am setting up a soccer game between friends on 28th. I'll probably have at least 2 days that I will be going out with friends or something like that per month.
Respectfully,
Munhozmib.
