I need ideas

So my parents 30 year wedding anniversary is coming up in July and I really want to do something special for them. I have never thrown a surprise party before so I have no idea what to do. That's where you guys come in. Have you ever thrown a surprise party before? What are some themes you think would be appropriate for a 30 year wedding aniversary? What do you think would make a good gift?

One idea for a gift would be a scrapbook. It could be a book of them grownign up upto when they got married, or a book of their life together. Just be sure to leave some empty pages that can be filled with the memories they will be making together in the years to come. Or perhaps you could just get one of those collage type picture frames where you put several pictures of your parents at different stages of their lives.
