hello mylotters! Earlier this evening I went to my very first Yoga Class. I have never seen a yoga class. I only saw photos of it but never have I seen it done before. I like the way you do stretches and all and still feel relaxing at the same time. I wonder if any of you have done yoga? What did you expect the first time you joined it? ARe you still doing yoga?

I have attended yoga classes several times in my life. But I could not and am not practcing Yoga on a regular basis - I mean the body culture part of it. As for yogic meditation called dhyana - yes I keep doing that. But yes the Yoga-Asanas or Yogic postures do have salutary effect on the body and mind. A regular practitioner of yoga does develop a very stable mind and disposition.

I did not know that there are diferent types of yoga. I think what were doing at the moment is trying the basic stretches and yoga for a first two months and maybe do difficult ones later. We'll see how it goes.

There is much more to Yoga than just the stretches. Once you get into it you will learn how to slow your mind and meditate. I've been doing yoga for many years and it has changed my life. I had no expectations at first, and I do yoga 6 mornings a week for 45 minutes. If you would like more information about yoga and meditation, go to your local book store, or library. There and many good books about yoga and meditation.

Thanks for that. I'm only doing this Yoga for 1 hour and 30 minutes every week. Just to try it and see how I get on. The instructor told me last night that I am quite flexible and it seemed to her that I have done it before. I liked my first experience in Yoga though.

I personally have never done Yoga but I hear it is fabulous and a great way to lose weight. I hear Pilates is good too! Have you ever done Pilates?

I've always wanted to try Yoga but I never have anyone that would go with me. I never have the time and I'd be too embarrased to go to a class with others that are in better shape than I am that would be able to do everything that I couldn't. However I'm still rather interested in trying it out. Maybe I'll get up the courage to try it out eventually.

I have only done yoga a few times as part of a college class (we did a bunch of different types of excercise). I thought it was a lot of fun and have considered joining an actual yoga class but my schedule is so busy that I have not found the time yet but hopefully I will someday! I did not know what to expect when I first did it but it was very relaxing, it was a good workout too, it was strange to be similtaneously exerting effort and relaxing but I enjoyed it.

HI runner0369! I do hope that you will find time to do yoga if you find it good for you and very relaxing. I did enjoy it too relaxing and excercising at the same time. Have a nice day!

there is lot of benifits of yoga.just do for some more day then you will feel that this is a part of your life, the day you do not do yoga you wil feel that you are missing something,it is very very benificial to health,as our new society gives us very much pressure in our daily life and if we do regularily yoga then we will reduce our tension and also our health get better
