Has anyone ever tried fried hot dogs? Yes like in a deep fryer, I wonder if you don't leave them in long will it still be as fattening?

I don't have a deep fryer either I just put a couple inches of oil in a large pan and cooked like 4 or 6 at a time it worked too. I cut them really thin and added them to a breakfast burrito..yummy

Gees I think they would be fattening no matter how long you cook them for, i have never heard of this before, I am not sure i would like them done that way...just like our local fish and chip shop has fried mars bars...haven't been game to try them..

yeh I guess anything could be nice, I remember thinking Banana fritters ( fried Bananas in batter) sounded awful but they are to die for with ice-cream....

Yes I have. Ive seen lots of places that fry their dogs to cook them. I think its a great way to cook them because of how the skin turns out. Its nice and crunchy and its also an easy way to cook lots of hot dogs quickly.

It's funny I have not noticed the deep fried hot dog before watching the Food Network, steamed hot dogs or a hot dog cooked on rollers were always the ones I had seen, but after I tried the deep fried version, which my son though at 1st was weird, I do agree, I like how they come out.

yes i have done this before and they taste great and as for the amount of time that they are left in the grease doesnt really matter because you are cooking in it anyway so they are going to be fattening no matter what but for me its the taste .

I have never fried my hot dogs but I do have this George Foreman, rotisserie that I use to cook hot dogs in when I want a different taste. I just put them in the little rotating basket and let them cook. It works will well with the dinner franks. My grand boys love them. I like mines with a little burnt on the outside. The don't like theirs like that.

Always wanted to get a Foreman grill or rotisserie, really healthy cooking is a good idea for anyone. I need all the help I can get too.

For obvious reasons, anyone that knows me can see that I love fattening foods, a fried pickle (which I too have heard of) just made my mouth pucker! Now I need something sweet...LOL

Hi, I have never tried a fried hot dog but I would bet it would contain a lot of colories. I would think it wouldn't be eaten all the time. The only thing that even came close to it is a corn dog and I haven't had one for years.

Yes I am sure they are chocked full of calories, I don't make them often but whenever I make hot dogs I try something more than just a boiled hot dog.. hoe hum boring! Try pan fry with olive oil spray, and onions on the side or even sauté the onions for a even yummier taste.

yes deffinetley still fattening. I live in Brooklyn, I go to Manhattan all the time where there is a restaurant that everything is strictly fattening. Hot dogs are fattening in themselves and add some frying power to that? forget about it, its fat galore. No matter what if you leave it in long or short its still fried. its still fattening. unfortunatley still unhealthy.

Brooklyn, Manhattan, ooh you're in the great hot dog makers area of the States! The Northeast have awesome dogs no matter where you go. I love watching the food Channel, when they have shows on hot dogs you can always be sure they will mention a place or two from your area.

I haven't tried fried hot dogs like that. I have however fried them in a skillet with butter. Either way you go I think it's going ot be fattening cause of all the grease.

Frying anything is always going to add to the fat content of the food, oh but the yummy taste!.. LOL Being that I was just diagnosed with high cholesterol I have had to do some arranging of what fats I use and foods I eat.. hoe hum. I do know that frying in Olive Oil or Olive Oil Spray does help. There is a heart smart margarine that taste really good and it is less in saturated fat which is a no no!
