Tomorrow Obama will officially take over the power in Washington. My question is: Do you really believe that something is going to change for real?

Something has changed. A non-white man is currently the head of the most powerful nation in the world. I believe that the U.S. is the first Western country to elect a racial minority to such high office. That will irrevocably change the way race is perceived. Perhaps we can finally stop looking at each other based on the color of our skin. If we stop making it an issue, it will cease to be one. However, I suspect you are really asking about the situation in this country. I do think it will change. But I'm not so sure if the change will be a positive one. We're looking at a country on the verge of a massive decline and the policies currently being advocated all seem set to push the country down that slide. While Obama talks a great deal about the resilance of the American people, he doesn't seem to trust us to work this out ourselves. It is the responsibility of government to "rescue" us. The fact of the matter is that every time the government has tried to "rescue" anything, it didn't do such a hot job. I hope the change is positive. But, yes, we can fail.

I'm not naive and I'm not a "minion" but, yes, I do believe things are going to change. It won't happen overnight, one would have to be VERY naive to believe that, but I'm confident that change is going to come. Look at it this way - we will no longer have Darth Vader (AKA the D1ck Cheney) to deal with; that in itself is a big change...lol! Annie
