My daughter asked me the other day, whether the fire services will respond and come to the site if a very young child calls them up and maybe it will be a real disaster and the child has called them up, or will they think twice whether the child is just making a joke? what are your views?

When my grandson was about 5 he called 911 then hung up but then almost at once they called back and ask if every thing was ok and that a small child had called them. So if a small child does call but stays on the line I'm sure they would respond. But if the child hung up then they will call back to see if some one is laying a joke or as my grandson was just playing on the phone.

good response, yes if the child stays on the line for long then I think it will make them think yes there may be a real disaster around and the child is not joking.

they will come here because a friend of mines grandson did that. don't think they were very happy w/hm & i don't blame them. he shouldn't have done it. she's the type to always make excuses for anything he does so don't know if he got punished or not but he should have.

I would suppose that 911 would be trained to recognize terror in a child's voice and will assume that it is an emergency. Besides the parents would be punished and maybe social services will take the child away if it is a false alarm. Therefore the fear that their mother or father will be put in jail would make sure that there really is a fire. So the fire service will respond.
