I'd have to say that my favorite genre is murder mystery. I've always enjoyed reading murder mysteries, even since I was a kid. They've always intrigued me. I'm not entirely sure why I've always been attracted to this genre more than others, but i couldn't really help it. They've always intrigued me.

Now that I have really started reading this genre, I think it is the puzzle that makes the story fun. The reader is always trying to see if they can figure out before the end who committed the murder.

It's true. We enjoy playing the detective, so to speak, without really being one. We like being able to put things together in our minds.

Welcome to MyLot! You've started a conversation and have done everything just right! My favorite genre has always been modern fiction, but just over the past couple of years I have really become a big mystery fan. It started off with me doing book reviews for a mystery book site, and it has just taken off from there. I particularly like thrillers and anything with spies in it...not sure why? I guess because I have always had an interest in politics, and reading about spying is like a secret sector of government action. Mostly I like modern fiction, however. There are so many great writers. Just a few of my favorites are Amy Tan, Ann Patchett, Stuart Dybeck, Dave Eggers...and so many more. Who are the authors you like in "dramatic fiction" (by that do you mean those who write plays? or am I way off the mark?)?

I like a lot of different books both fiction and nonfiction. I've recently started liking books on new technology and things like cyborgs and androids and all that kind of technolgocially advanced stuff. I also like books about magic and other fantasy stuff I guess. Horror interests me as well and basically anything that's original and adds cool elements for me to experience while reading the material. Reading is a great thing.
