What are you thoughts? The current opinion here is that its a made up illness by the docs, overprescribed and used by parents as a way to control their children which they normally cant be bothered to do... As an ADD sufferer I have found this opionion in the newspapers to be quite detrimental to me...

Adhd is a real condition in my eyes. My eldest child suffers from it and yes i do have him on meds. my youngest was diag. with add but i do not have him on meds. I believe that every case is different. and yes there are to many doctors that are not diagnosing it correctly. I know that my eldest is two different people when not on the meds. he also suffers from being bi polar and has epilepsy. So yes i think it is real and sometimes in certain cases needs them to be on meds.

Jury is out still. Dont have enough medical info but I think there are examples of what your are saying. Parents cant keep up with active children and think its an illness which the doctor is glad to perpetuate. The more visits the doctor gets the more money he makes. Ignorance. Thats the killer.

I think thats the case in a lot of instances, parents not feeding or exercising their kids right and are just looking to explain an annoying behaviour. However I think that attitude hurts the people who are actually effected by it.

i used to think the same as the controversy until it happened to my son, and since i have had to accept and treat his condition, he is excelling as a person, and is much happier.. not to mention how well he is doing in school now.. :) who would take that away?
