What for? You're only getting yourselves a new president, it's a fairly regular event. It's not like Apollo 11 or the Berlin Wall being demolished. The amount of media coverage this is getting is stupid - and that 3 day concert they've been holding in Washington is insane, especially in the middle of a recession. I'm getting the DVDs out tonight.

this is not just the ushering in of a new president, this a very historic event. This will be the first black president in the history of the united states. After it's history with blacks this is an amazing thing to happen. From slave to president in 400 years is amazing.

Apart from the fact that he had one black and one white parent (making him halfcast if anything), wouldn't you rather be living in a country where no-one even cares what colour (or gender) the president is? In Britain, we didn't have as much fuss when we got our first female prime minister - certainly no pomp and circumstance. We haven't even seen if he's going to be any good yet, so why put him on a pedestal?

I am not sure that I will be at home at that particular time and I wont be allowed to watch it while I am at work.It will be good though to see this historic event unfolding in right time.

I will be watching it on television with my youngest daughter. As a homeschool family, we will follow the history being made today by watching his swearing in and his speech! I am thrilled to be a part of this history making today. I will be glad to see him take office and I think that in four years, our country will be in a better place than it is now. He is going to use the Bible that Lincoln used for his swearing in and I think that says a lot about how he feels about the day too. I think that it shows that he is fully aware as to how important this day is in history. Lincoln freed the slaves and now there is a black President.

hay.. i really want to witness that inauguration... but sadly,it's too far. i have a friend from the US who was invited by his boss to the inauguration. can you believe that he said no!! waaah. though he really is an Obama fan. I just don't get it why he turned down the invite. Good thing for Charice Pempengco, she sang in the pre-inauguration event.. what a lucky kid..
