use a cleaner disc & run it in your dvd drive, you can purchase the disc in any store. It comes with a cleaning solution which you need to apply on the bristles (a thin line of cloth like material) found at the surface of the cleaning disc & then you have to insert that disc & run it which will clean the lenses pretty easily. You can see how effective it would be after the cleaning process is over.

Hi pardhu,
It can be either a problem with your lens or it can be a hardware/software related problem.
First what you can do is buy a lens cd cleaner and clean your lens.I would recommend you not to clean it in anyother ways.Cos if your drive lens is ruined, then it becomes useless. To change the lens will cost you the same price to buy a new one.
Secondly, if it is a Software/hardware related problem, then you can try going to Lg's site nd look for update patch for the writer. They must have released some patch to fix this issues. To check for the update patch you should know the make of the writer, which will be there on the box case in which the writer came when you bought it...
Hope this helped you. Also there is a waaranty for LG products, if your still in warranty get it replaced

I too had similar problems. its not a hardware problem. It will work fine if you reinstall windows.
Try using softwares like isobuster if you want to see the contents of the disc.

I think there is DUST on the lens of the drive just try to clean the lens by using some lens cleaner CD, did you check the DVD for any tears. I think it is your operating system problem.
