Alot of Dan Brown's evidence is false. It has been discussed many times by many experts. The things in his book simply did not happen. Its a nice fiction book that was played off as a possible reality for book sales, just as the Blair Witch Project was played off as a documentary.

Hi valerie, welcome to mylot and I hope that you have a happy stay here. I read the book and watch the movie too and love both. A good fiction mixed with facts and fiction can give us the impression that all is real. It is the difference between a good writer and a bad writer.
Have a nice day and welcome.

Dan Browns's book is fiction. He says that right at the beginning. What is confusing to people and worrisome to others is that in parts of the book fact and fiction are presented side by side. For instance the practices and address of Opus Dei is based on facts. There is such an organization. They have such practices and their headquarters is or was in New York where he says it was. Also the crystal pyramid is by the Louvre in Paris, but the events he describes never took place.
So he has taken real places but put fictional events into those places. There are many more but too long to go into. In any event is was a really good read. I enjoyed it very much.

dan brown is such a good writer that he successfully combined fact and fiction in his novel. but you must remember that it's still fiction. so if he added some facts in, it doesn't mean that the whole story is true. if you forget that it's fiction, you can easily believe that the story is true. i read this book and his other books, angels and demons, and also deception point.

This is a great one of browns, suspense and mistery. I like all his collections and its highly fictious.

I like the da vinci code, but I thought that angels and demons was better. He is a fiction writer, but any good writer has to do the leg work and research what he is writing. I do beleive that there could be secret societies out to bring down the papacy.

what makes the book so great is the way in which he has written the book.Truth or not truth, he has made millions believe what he said is true.Even he is a christian who goes to church regularly...There is no need to review the book from a historians view to check whether the facts are correct, cos as he says"its only a novel and not a archealogical finding

Honestly, he kinda gets me confused too but then I thought, who cares? Who cares if Jesus had a wife? Who cares if she's Mary Magdalene? Well, I don't. He's still Him. It's not wrong at all to be married. It doesn't changes all the good things and sacrifices He made to the world.
So, if you ask me if I believe if that Da Vinci Code is true or not? My answer is I don't know and I don't care.
By the way, book is definitely way better than the movie, I just wanna dd.

Dan Brown claimed to know a lot when he wrote this book.
I have to hand it to him, the book makes for a very compelling read. I just don't see what the big deal was. If it were true that Jesus did father a child, does that make His teachings false? The fact is that it doesn't.
I don't think everything that is written in that book is true. Or that whatever is said in that book could ever be proven false for that matter. I see the Da Vinci Code for what it really is, a novel.

What proofs are you talking about? Proofs is a conclusive evidence, one that has been tested or investigated and remained to be true. What Dan Brown had in the book are mere theories.
I really wonder why anyone would even believe the book to be true. The author publishes it as a fiction novel, and that where it should me. Fiction.

They say it's fiction, I haven't read the book but I watched the movie, and I believe it, even though they say it's fiction, it makes a lot of sense to me.

The Da Vinci code is fiction. That means that there´s a game between writer and reader as to believe what it´s written while you read. Nothing more, nothing less. When you go to the thether and see a king, he has a crown made of golden paper. But you accept that it´s a gold crown while you are watching the play (AND you also accept the actor is a king LOL).
The Da Vinci Code is a book that is difficult to put down after you start reading it. I liked it a lot: interesting and witty.

So..... The Da Vinci Code got you too??? When I first read it, I disected the book. Read it cover to cover and even made notes to look up facts. I too was curious as to how much truth was in this book.
I have had so many questions about religion and faith, and this book only complicated things further......because it seemed to make so much sence!!!
But don't let this book damage whatever faith you have. In fact, it is a pure example of how beliefs are made. Believe what you choose. The rest of it is just someone else's opinion.
Brian McLaren made an awesome point in his book "Finding Faith" when he says that he believes that Licolyn was a good president. But he also acknowledges that this is but a bit of faith. He only beleives that Licolyn was a good president because he was taught it in History class. He will never really "know" if Licolyn was a good president. He wasn't there.
And the sad truth is that we will never "know" if Jesus had a wife named Mary Magdeline. We weren't there!

I believe part of his novel is true, but he definitely fixes truth with fiction to make the novel amusing and controversial as well. He reveals some stories/facts about the origin of Christanity which is challenging our general knowledge which we take for granted. I was so amazed, to a great extent, for some information in the novel. But I just take it as a novel. No more than that.

i just loved the book. and i really dont know if i believe in the stuff written in the book. the proofs make us believe. already there were a lot of issues regarding the book and all i could do is to just read the book and not think about it at all. dan brown has presented the things in an excellent way. i simply love the book.
