Oprah should just change her name to "Yo-Yo Winfrey" and be done with it.....

I saw Oprah on TV this morning and she's back to skinny again! Saw her briefly last week too, but this time she was heavy-set. This visual see-saw seems to be a common thing when it comes to this woman!
Yeah she's an extremely popular celebrity with huge ratings..... Yeah she can make or break an author just by mentioning their novel in one of her book club episodes..... Yeah she gives away cars and crap during her end of year Christmas Specials...... Yeah she is considered to be SO influential that it has been calculated that she alone created some 1.8 million votes for Obama during the last election..... The woman even generated a moment that has haunted Tom Cruise ever since and had him jumping up and down on a couch! (Which I am surprised didn't break when you consider that it was fat Oprah sitting on it at that time!)
But ya can't control your weight now Oprah, CAN YA! Let's all give Oprah the spanking she so rightfully deserves. Let it ALL out people and scream to the Heavens your least liked things about Yo-Yo Winfrey! (Well maybe not scream them out, but at least write them here if you don't mind!)

Well I suppose with all that money she buys rich products. The thing is she is human like the rest of us with faults and will power, like you must have a ton of to put her down for not having it, isn't always easy to control.
Nice to see her at least try.

lol. I figured that there would be someone that took this seriously, I just never thought it would have been so quickly. It's all tongue-in-cheek for Heaven's sake! Yes Dr Webmann, I personally have tons of faults and a complete lack of will power. Very insightful! And of course she's only human! But it sure is fun to be humourous about it.

Oh and thank you for adding that tag to the discussion too WebMann. I am sure that you have rated me negatively as well. Bravo! Funny thing is that I rated you positively. Oh well. The price we pay for trying to be a little left of centre every now and then.....

lol. Oprah is arguably the Queen of television riya! And yes, all celebrities need a damn good spanking every now and then, so why not Oprah as well! At least you and Alok so far are able to recognize the humour in all of this. Life's too serious anyways! (She has also been an actress in the movie "The Color Purple" and recieved an Oscar nomination for her role!)

While i certainly appreciate what she has done for people, i never liked the idea of having to go through a self disclosure and discussing one's problems in public.
In that sense i ws never a great fan of hers. I saw the Tom Cruise bit and for a moment even wondered if it was a stage show ?
So get on with it James, let the spanking flow. Well, here is one celebrity who is not going to endorse Panda spanking.

Maybe she could review panda spanking in one of her upcoming book club episodes? It's not a book persay and more of an attitude and way of life, but it could be of benefit still! (She DID do The Secret, what's the difference???) I saw Tom Cruise asked about the couch jumping incident in an interview a few weeks back. He seems to be a tad embarrassed about it, so I don't think it was staged at all. More of an impulsive act on his part! I'm no big fan of Yo-Yo either to be honest.
Hey Oprah..... When you go to Taco Bell alone, do ya get a group discount?

Hmm.."Becky jumps on soap box, wobbles a bit..hoping not to fall through..." Deep down Oprah is just like any other person who deals with a compulsive eating disorder and maybe lets to go till someone her doctor, director or whomever tells her to lose some weight and get healthier..we all wanna be healthier but for people who have compulsive eating disorders that can be hard to stay on the straight and narrow about it..I know since I am probably Yo-Yoing right there with her. We have to hand it to her since she does keep trying even if it sometimes ends with not so great results six months later..But I guess in my next life i will be a Yo-Yo since I did so much of it in this lifetime. If I didn't I would be as big as a house. "Steps down.."

We all have different ways of dealing with our health and weight. Not everything works for each of us. She is still trying to find her niche of what works for her. And besides having a wired jaw, I guess not much helps..although even wired jaws fails since Milkshakes can still be sipped.(although hubby would love that..that would be almost as good as being able to mute me with a remote..).I stop at having a wired jaw or a stomach stapling might be for some and it worked maybe but not for me..I have seem some that it failed with and I know I would be in that percentage of failure if I did it..So I guess to each his/her journey..and I appreciate all the luck I could get..

I agree wholeheartedly that what works for one person is not always going to work for another, but I do feel in parallel that many people tend to overthink things and look for complex solutions rather than focus in on the basics. I am someone who lost over 27 kilograms about 7 or 8 years ago, so I'm not speaking out of school here!

Enjoy the time on the soap-box did ya? lol. I think this is probably one of the reasons why Oprah's so damn popular, yes. She represents struggles that so many others face and then brings it to light for the world to see with herself in the spotlight! But some may argue that all the different angles she sometimes takes contribute to the overall problems in socieal mindsets when it comes to weight loss. Given how much time she DOES spend in the spotlight, it's even more important for her to set an example in my opinion. Yes, she's only human, but in a sense she kind of makes light of her own condition at times and parades one expert after another in front of her audiences to come up with yet another reason WHY she lapsed. The average person doesn't HAVE access to these resources, so again it all comes back to her setting a solid example and providing a realistic message. Thanks for the response Becky and as I've said to you before, I do wish you every success with your own journey!

Oprah is actually just a figment of your imagination... of all of yours. LOL.
I bet you'd be giggling and peeing when you're in her studio getting a brand new car as well as getting to meet Tom Cruise.

Yo-Yo SaintAnne

From all the jumping and screaming and hyperventilating, I sure think the audience would be skinny by the time the show's over.
I wanted to give you a link to a Madtv skit about Oprah's Fat Cam. I haven't seen this one (just the first couple minutes), just found it when I was trying to look for the SNL one with Oprah giving gifts and the audience was going crazy that some of their heads finally exploded. But I seem to have a problem with copying and pasting right now.

I cannot stand Oprah, she is so over-rated, and I cannot believe that there are some people out there that fall for her bs.

We ALL do yxinxin! I guess though, when you are a celebrity, your strong points (and especially your weak points) become far more public! Oprah certianly has a far reaching presence, that's for sure. I appreciate you letting me know these things as I had no idea her life journey was taught in schools around the world!

In my English textbook for Senior 1, Unit 17, Great Women, Text 2 Oprah Winfrey.
The text tells about her talk show "AM Chicago" and The Oprah Winfrey Show". After reading it, I began admire her. Now I know everybody has her own strong and weak points. right?

I know Oprah came up from, what?, the slums? I know she has pulled herself up by the bootstraps to become one of the wealthiest women in the world, and I have to admire her for that, but give me somebody real to watch on TV - like Judge Judy, or Rachael Ray. At least they're entertaining.

I would have to agree with you on this front beaddoodler. Oprah over the years has become way too commercialized in my opinion. I am pretty sure that Rachael Ray is actually from the Oprah stable (Harpo Productions) and so is Dr Phil. I don't mind small doses of Rachael Ray, but she grates on me after a while. She would have been one heck of a handful as a child I reckon!
Judge Judy is a whole different type of person altogether! Straight shooter, no BS and tough as nails! It has been a long time since I've seen young Judy in action, but I used to watch her quite often. Goodness me, my tongue in cheek discussion has gone all serious!

While I don't really agree with everything she does, in terms of her physical appearance I don't see why it really even matters. Isn't she one of those people who are out against the media scrutinizing the weight of women? She hasn't been a "skinny" woman in a long while from what I remember. However, her weight has never really limited her (even if it does seemingly fluctuate). She still does what she does. I don't see why it really matters. At the point when this was brought to the media's attention, she hardly looked that different then usual.

Ultimately it doesn't really matter, no. But given that she is in the spotlight; AND she also dedicates a considerable amount of her programming to dieting focuses and health in general, she seems to be pretty undisciplined when it comes to her own health and weight! It certainly hasn't limited her either. She is arguably one of the most successful women on the planet and came from nothing! I'm just poking a bit of fun at her is all. I am sure she can take it and if not, she can make herself feel better by going off and counting all her money!
