yes ofcourse ausies have lost a big man a big wall of their team.Hayden is a gr8 batsman and a big nightmare for bowlers. But its his time for him to quit. And it will defenitely take time for another player to replace his positon.

hayden has been a great player for Australia. his records speak of his batting abilities. i think is is wise decision on the part of hayden to move awaya from cricket. age is catching him. if he continues also he cant play for more that one year. i don't think it is big loss for Australian cricket. there are many players in there ranks to replace him in the opening sport. phill jaques is best replacement from him. infact Australia has suffered badly because of poor form of hadyden. on the whole i think it is wise decision by hayden and i don't think it is big loss for them.

No I don’t think so ,Mathew Hayden provided good support up front for the team since 1994 and has done well. The fact of the matter there has been times when he has not performed well and the team has still won which goes to show that the team is still a good one. This was the case with the 2006-2007 when Matthew averaged under forty for the first three tests and yet Australia whitewashed England. I think what has happened to Australia in recent years is that the team is aging one which means that many of the members are not as agile as they used to be and are being replaced by younger more inexperienced player and as a result this has created a learning curve as these players need to get seasoned in. Australia has dominated cricket for the better part of a decade and it is only a matter of time before the other nations caught up. I think that that is what is happening now. Matthew provided a good front line batting force especially with Justine Langer ,a pair who has scored more runs than any another pair except Gordon Greenidge and Desmond Haynes and will be missed but Australia has a cadre of good players and it is only a matter of time before they ascend to fill the void left by him. We have to remember that although he debuted in 1994 against the West Indies ,his average was only 21.7 and was dropped from the side and it wasn’t until after 2000 that he became a permanent fixture in the side. This means that we have to give these current youngsters in the Australian side time to come into their own. In addition ,cricket is a team sport and as such no one man can determine whether a side wins pr loose ,that wouldn’t be a team sport
