This semester started Wednesday the 14th. I wouldn't have minded a bit of snow, but I really can't complain since the weather here is perfect for just about any outdoors activity you can think of.
What I don't understand is this: School started on a Wednesday, then the following Monday we have a holiday which is the only one until Spring Break in March. The last college I attended had more days off than this one and burn out comes a lot quicker now because of it.

When I was in college, I went straight through until I got to my Junior year, then I took the summer off. Having had three months off from school, I realized I missed the activity of classes, friends, the interaction of the classroom discussions, etc. Winter breaks are not long enough to miss classes, and to me they are just short breaks that don't give you enough time to "recharge your batteries" so to speak. My first day of school was after not being in school for years and years. I was scared as heck, and I had to force myself to walk onto campus and go to my first class. I was almost sick! But I made it through, and I finally got my degree. I considered going to graduate school, but after four years of undergrad work, I decided I needed a break from the academic world. I worked for a while, and now I'm reconsidering grad school. Good luck to your with your academic career. You'll get there, I promise.
