Doo dads? Or is it doodads? I don't know, but I think a lot of you know what I'm talking about. Gadgets and such that change our tehnology. I'm not a person with gadgets. I have never had a cell phone, and I got an ipod this year only because it was a Christmas present from my sister and brother-in-law. Heck, I still use an answering machine. Call waiting, caller ID? Nope.
But I would like to have a DVR. I have a VCR/DVD combo that was given to me, but the VCR part does not work. Normally if I would record anything, I'd use the VCR to do it. But I can't. So I'd like to have a DVR. I'm not going to get one, but I'd like to know more about them. Can you record something on a DVD itself and give it to someone, or is it just stored on the DVR memory?
And what techno doo dad would you like?

Not sure about the doo dads or doodads. I always thought they were doohickies...or is that doohickeys?
Usually by the time I get around to getting the latest techno item...it's pretty close to being obsolete. Our cable box has a DVR, and it records elecronically, which can them be transferred to a VCR or a DVD Recorder. If you want to record directly onto a DVD, I think you need to get a DVD recorder.

I finally go a DVR with my dish network upgrade. I can record hundreds of hours of things on it. I saw that I can store my recordings on my computer hard drive, but I haven't figured that out yet. I think that if I can get the recordings on the hard drive I can also burn a dvd. I love all sorts of gadgets, but I don't rush out to get the newest ones right away. I really want one of those roombas. I heard the latest ones work pretty good.

you can record and copy on dvd, and burn new copies on a dvd burner, I don't have one myself, my son is into all of that, the last thing I ever used was a vcr just like you. My computer doesn't even have sound.

I am not quite as bad as you. I got a prepaid cellphone two years ago...for traveling. I don't have an ipod or anything like that either...but do have a DVD player. I can't record on it though..just watch movies. I am more into getting things that are gadgets like for scrapping like my cricut.

HaHa, what is so funny is that I had to figure out what a DVR is. Talk about being completely behind.
I hate all the new stuff. I can't figure it out. No cell phone, just an answering machine, and yes, you got it, no call ID.
Number one, I can't afford all this stuff. I live by myself with my pretty kitty and it's not easy week to week making ends meet. Nothing special here.
Doodads, are all so confusing to me in this day and age. Just like the tv's...I just want to turn it on and watch tv, CD's, just want to put them in and watch them, phones, just want to talk. Good grief, I need to take lessons, lol!

I have no idea. I thought it was stored on the DVD itself. I have never had a cell phone, either. I would love to have a DVR. Think of all the space you would save when you store them. Videos are so much thicker.
