Here's another great movie I recently saw that was set during World War II titled "Walk in the Clouds". This was a beautiful movie with a truly moving story, I guess it could be called a "chick flick" but that's fine with me. The main star was Keanu Reeves and Anthony Quinn was also in it but I don't know the other actors' names off-hand. The female lead was a beautiful and wonderful actress who I don't think I'd ever seen before or since which is a shame because she was incredible. Has anyone else here seen this movie? I don't know how I missed it until just a few weeks ago when it was on HBO! Annie

I remember when it first came out. I do not remember much about it, and I guess it was because I only watched it once. I do not know if it was memorable or not. But it was not my type of movie. Most of the chick flicks I like usually take place in Seattle, Vancouver, Toronto, or the mid west and usually are around Christmas time, when this city girl comes into the country and meets the former love of her life.

As I said I only saw it once and I am more into the romantic comedy rather then romantic tragedies and it might have been that I only saw parts of it. That is what happens when you are the only woman at home, and you have a husband and two sons. They seem to go into the Kung Fu, Action Adventure, one guy fighting off the enemy using a toothpick, type.

I sure know what you mean. My husband likes really OLD black and white movies and anything with John Wayne. We don't like any of the same movies. Annie

It isn't really a chick flick in the romantic comedy sense but more in the tearjerker sense, I guess. It was about a young man who returned from fighting in the war to discover the wife he'd married right before shipping out after only knowing her a short time hadn't even read any of the letters he'd written to her every day. She also didn't have the same dreams for the future that he did and wanted him to work at a job selling candy because she believed he'd make a lot of money. He leaves to sell the candy and meets a young woman first on the train and then after they had both gotten off when he saw her sitting alongside the road crying. It turns out she'd been away at school and had become pregnant by her teacher and she was terrified her strict father would "kill her". The young man offers to pretend to be her husband so her family wouldn't be ashamed of her. I won't say anymore so I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it! I loved it myself. Annie

It has Nick Cage in it and he is suppose to protect the Native Americans that were giving the "code" used in the war. It was really good but very long.

This is one of my favorite movies! That girl's name is Aitana Sanchez-Gijon. This is just one of the sweetest most romantic movies I have ever seen. She is primarily in Italian films. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0845209/

Thank you for the recommendation. I just looked The Majestic up on my guide to see if it's going to be on TV and it is, but not on a channel I get. It's coming on Cinemax I only get HBO. It figures! I'll have to try to rent it. It looks like it's very good from the description. Annie

Wow, you're making me feel VERY old...lol! It was made in 1995 so I suppose if you're very young it would be a very old movie but to me it's almost a "new release"...lol! Annie

That's a really good movie. The actress was Aitana Sanchez-Gijon. She actually has an extensive resume including being the President of the Spanish Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. She just has very few Hollywood credits.

Hi Annie, Awesome movie!! All the actors in this movie did a fantastic job. The story line was good too. And you're right about it being a tearjerker. But definitely deserving to be watched. Now that you have reminded me of it, I'll have to sit down and watch it again, it's time for a good tearjerker!! LOL Keep watching old movies and leaving little bits like this. They bring up good memories about movies that I have seen and may want to watch again.. Have a nice day..

I've been watching quite a few of them lately and I'm trying to post about them one by one. There are some I somehow missed the first time around and some I'm watching again after many years. Annie

I think this is one of my favorite romantic movies. The story was sweet and many times humorous, the actors were wonderful, the scenery was breathtaking. Anthony Quinn as the grandfather was just too funny. One thing I wish I didn't have to comment on, did you think Keanu did a good job? Sometimes I thought he was ok, but in other parts he was just so stiff. Like the scene after the stomping of the grapes ceremony, when he wisks her up to the bedroom.... I have seen this movie many times and there are sometimes I think to myself, ssshhh, Keanu, just stand there and look good.
