Text in Paintings

What's your opinion about text in paintings? I think when it is used well, text can often add to the look of a painting.. But it's very hard to get right and usually takes away from it. I always paint my signature in small text in the bottom right corner of the painting and don't put in any other text. What about you? I know certain styles made up mainly of text, but I think text should be saved for CGI rather than real art..
