What Foods Do You Eat When You Are Dieting?

I tend to make up my own little low-fat meals when I'm dieting. Last night I made fried cabbage, onions, and mushrooms with BBQ sauce. I fried all three together in cooking spray instead of vegetable oil and then stirred in a little BBQ sauce for some added flavor. I know it doesn't really sound that appetizing but it actually wasn't too bad and I love onions and mushrooms, I could eat them sauteed just by themselves.
This has been my daily diet:
Breakfast at 7am: 1 apple
Snack at 9:30am: 1 apple
Lunch at 12pm: Turkey sandwich with mustard on wheat and 1/2 cup of cottage cheese
Supper at 5pm: I eat either 1 can of low fat soup, a salad with fat free salad dressing, bowl of Special K cereal, or some other low fat meal that I come up with
Snack at 8pm: 1 bowl of Special K cereal
I've been trying to keep to the same eating schedule every day.
Do you have any low-fat recipes or foods that you like to eat while dieting?

I try to eat more fruits and vegetables. Yogurt is a good snack too. Even if you get the regular stuff and not the light or fat free it is not that bad for you. String cheese and hard boiled eggs are good too. The eggs give you a boost of protein without too much fat. Pickles while high is sodium are very low in calories.

I never thought about hard boiled eggs. I might have to make me one of those. I love yogurt and pickles too. I used to eat pickles like candy when I was a kid and when I was pregnant with my daughter. Thanks for the ideas.

Hi singlemommy,
I will have oatmeal for breakfast and no snacks in between and then rice with fish or shrimp and then night time, will just have milk with whatever vegetables available!
But, it varies for me since I love eating rice! LOL! Fried or plane!

I love grilled chicken whether I am dieting or not. So I could eat it just about every day. I also try to steer clear of foods with a high sugar content. This seems to work better for me than other dieting methods. Good luck with your weight loss and keep us posted if you feel you need to. This may help you along a bit. Sometimes they say people do better when they have a support system. Keep up the good work and you will reach your goal.

hi singlemommy, my dear freind, i am going on a restricted diet for some time because i wanna looose weight which i have gained during my pregnancy. i go to gym regularly and take my food as per advised. i dont go out on snacking anything. i eat very selective things and very calculative as per the calories. it is difficult for me to burn calories as i dont sweat easily even during exercise so my diet is very restricted.i eat apple in the morninga glass of coconut water then after two hours i take a veg sandwich and a carrot juice. then in mid day i take either an apple or any fruit and aftere one and a half hour i take soup, veggies , butter milk or curd and sald. i single slice of bread sometimes. then at tea time i take a cup of milk and two biscuits and then after one and a half hour i take fruit plate. then i take dinner. i dont make my dinner late. i try to take it by 7.30 or eight at the most. in the night if i wanna have something i either tke a cup of milk or fruit.i sometimes take cereal like wheat scoops in the breakfast and not corn.

All the stuff you are doing sounds good and healthy.I like raw veggies and cooked(a little olive oil and salt)I think you could make a pretty healthy stir fry with brown rice or white..I see not really a big diffrence....No gravys and these kinda things(which i love) ...Use apple sauce in some cakes and recipes instead of butter or oil.My mom use to do tji..Drink lots of water..Thats what I try to do!! Now I wish I had a muffin all this typing phewwww poor me...lol

i try to eat as many fresh fruits and vegetables as possible. i also make sure i have at least 8 glasses of water a day. the key i've found to dieting is not to deprive myself. once i feel like i'm on a diet, that's when i crave all the worst foods! it's completely psychological, if i eat balanced, i feel balanced, but if i feel like i'm keeping myself away from something, that's when i feel like i need it the most! if i want a cookie, i'll have a cookie, i'll just make sure not to have five cookies! and i won't have a brownie and ice cream later that day... haha, moderation and balance is key :)

Here's what I think: The best method to loose weight is by doing the Atkins diet. I would reccommend though not doing it for more than 3 weeks, but it makes you loose weight like crazy. What I learned back in high school from my health teacher was the following: While doing the Atkins diet, you need to take Multivitamins, chromium picolinate and fish oil pills throughout the whole entire time. Foods that I would eat while doing that diet where the following: meats (any kind, without breading), eggs, mayonnaise, butter, cheese, and green vegetables. I know it is very limited, but it makes you loose weight really fast. Sometimes I would prepare egg salads, scrambled eggs, etc.
