If your cat meets a mouse, what will she do?

I don't have a pet cat. Once in the meadow, one of my friends was playing with her cat when a big mouse appeared from the nearby bush. Mice are rare these days in my place. On seeing the mouse, the cat was so afraid that she ran into her owner's arms as quickly as possible. Surprising yet it's true. Have you ever met the similar thing? How about your cat if you have one? Is she afraid of a mouse?

My cat likes to play with them and then kill them and walk away

Nope, just likes to play with them. I don't think the intention is to kill it either. He always seems disappointed when it stops moving.

One thinks of cats as always being the 'big' hunters. And many are...but again many are not. My cat, who sadly is no longer with me, was more of a naturalist than a hunter. For the 20 years that I spent with her, I don't think she ever killed anything. But she could spend a day following the progress of an ant working its way across the backyard. Flying insecs were frustrating to her, as they would fly away when she tried to investigate...
I lived in a home in a very woodsy, rural area and once we had a mouse get into the cellar. She spent days and days down in that cellar, and I figured that she'd catch it and eat it. But no. I found them sitting and looking at each other...not a foot apart. Those are the moments that wyou really wish you had a cameral with you. Eventually the mouse was caught and put outside, after which I think my cat was mad at me for getting rid of a 'friend'.

This is a very interesting topic. I have to say that I have cats since I was a kid. So I have seen different cats have different responses in such kind of situation. Some cats would try to escape because they were afraid of the mice. Some would try to catch the mice. It's very shame that some cats are scared to the mice today:)
I love China

Hi yxinxin! haha..I guess, that cat has never seen a mouse in its entire life! haha..I don't have a cat, only dogs. But my grandmother has 4 cats and I have never witnessed yet their cats run after any mouse. But I think they will if they will see one in the house since my grandmother's cats are even fighting with my grandmother's dogs. The dogs are bigger than the mouse so I think the cats will be up to it. haha..
Take care and have a great day!

I have 7 indoor cats. A few years ago we had a mouse in our basement and two of our cats found it and played with it for a while before we knew they found it. They were good mousers.
About a year ago, one of my cats was sitting in the room where I keep the vacuum cleaner, just staring at it. I called my boyfriend in and he looked in the vacuum. A mouse had crawled up into the canister and was just staring out at Frost. I bet he was so scared.
Most of our cats are good mousers. We have never had one of our cats be afraid of the mice. Now people is another story...

I think that is possible because some cats are not eating or are really afraid of mice by nature. Well I haven't seen such act yet but that is really strange. All cats that I have seen will run after a mouse. But in my case here since we are living in an apartment and we are on the top floor, there are still mice that climbs here and they pass by the water tubes. There are spaces from the walls and I don't know that even if we are this high still mouse can climb us. I use mouse trap and whenever I have caught a mouse, I threw it down and on the ground there are always 3 or more cats waiting to eat the mouse. I don't know why some mouse are still alive after they fall from the 9th floor where we are and still manage to run and hide. But I am luckier because those cats on the ground are fast enough to eat them alive! I love to see cats eating them, that way they take revenge for me. I hate mouse and rats and I will never ever like them forever!

It's no surprising that some mice are still alive after they fall from the 9th floor and manage to run away, because they are light in body weight and so hits the ground very slightly, just as an ant will be all right falling from a plane to the ground. Am I right?
