Why do you own and love pets?

I am an avid lover of dogs and had been always a proud owner till last two years(he died two years back). Now since we go out of city after every 2-3 months, we didn't want that our pet should be neglected, hence we dropped the idea of owning any pet. Most of you must be ardent lovers of pets, especially dogs. What are the reasons for loving your pet. Ofcourse, main reason being that he loves you above anything else, you forget all your tension when you come back home from your work. Here are the few other reasons which I received in an email: The reason a dog has so many friends is that he wags his tail instead of his tongue. There is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself The average dog is a nicer person than the average person. Dogs love their friends & bite their enemies, quite unlike people, who are incapable of pure love & always have to mix love & hate Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.
