Why do men not stop to ask for directions?

I take pride in my manhood, and I'm just curious why men never stop to ask for directions. It seems like a perfectly legitimate thing - it's just that I have the feeling that asking for directions says a lot about one's control over the situation.
For instance, some insecure men look down on others when they cannot control their own fate. It seems as if they are enjoying being better than someone else. By asking directions, you give value to someone else. If you know your own path, then you do not have to lose 'face'.
Of course, this may cause a man to be lost for a while.

I don't think men should worry so much about "losing face" as "losing time" ;) If one cannot find one's way, it's a simple matter to stop and ask for some guidance. I don't think it's any reflection on a man's virility or manhood in general to ask for directions. Some men may feel it is... but I think it's a sensible man that gets where he needs to be on time :)
