I don't think you should swift to the 64 bit edition. Now, most of applications only support the 32bit edition. To the best of my knowledge, Windows XP 64bit Edition is developed for workstation and scientific caculation.

Thanks for your reply!! I am searching information for 64 bit version on internet. Somewhere I found that since my processor supports 64 bit & I am using 32 bit, remaining 32 bit is not getting utilised, so to get full use of mine processor I should migrate to 64 bit. I am really confused on what to do, please reply me whenever you find something on this. Once again thanks for your reply.

Dear shrey_naik... there is no need to change your XP from 32 bit to 64 bit As most of the software support 32 bit OS, the only thing that some software and hardware recognized by 64 bit only, like 4 gb ram support by 64 bit OS as a normal user you are not find any difference between 32 bit and 64 bit.. on server side also there is 32 bit and 64 bit OS for exm. exchange 2007 support 64 bit os and not 32 bit os

i dont know clearly, but one thing im sure that the running speed of 64 bit will better than 32 bit.so i think if u always run software with high memory occupied,u'd better change it,but it do not need to change if u just surf internet.

i think 64 bit can perform well than 32 bit. 64 bit may have more processing capacity that 32 bit. But i can't understand can we install 64 bit operating system on a 32 bit machine?

To explain in simple words 64 bit OS processes at a faster speed than the 32 bit OS. Just take the example of Windows 95 & the new version of windows. Windows 95 were 16 bit whereas the newer version of windows such as XP are 32bit. The difference can just be identified by their speeds right! Just like that there is more advaned OS of 64bit in XP which can give still better performance. However they are usually used by the professionals as most of the software meant in the market for 32 bit only.

I dint mean tat way, softwares of 32 bit will work good in a 64 bit. To be put in simple words it will be like riding a race bike at the speed of a bicycle because the rider doesn't know to make the full use of the bike. Got it !

shrey,This is a common question ,the answer is "yes" if you need some positive changes,You might ask what change you can get by shifting to 64 bt. For example say you are running a C program in your system, your C compiler is of 64 bit and you are running it in a 32 bit OS,it is called as 32 bit environment and you can get the output as you C compiler is also 32 bit. bUT WHEN YOU shift to 64 bit OS you can get full functianality.
