How many books do you think you read in a year?

I once saw a group either on yahoo.com or another site about challenging yourself to read 52 books in one year. While that seems like a low number to those who read two or three books per week, I thought reading one book per week might be difficult for me. Then I thought, "well, I spend a lot of time reading online . . . why not spend some of that time curled up with a good book instead?" I'm forever making excused about why I don't have time to read that much in one year, but I really do have the time . . . perhaps I just don't have the ambition.

reading 52 books in one year??.....i don't think thats a low number.
i do read many books, but not those many.
in fact, i never set any such goal of completing some particular number of books...
it all depends on my mood. i read books when i really want to. once i feel like reading books, then i start it and it continues for a few moths or may be a year.....last time i started reading books seriously, i registered at a shop where you can rent books, i also read some e-books,...and kept on reading till i was bored.
you wont believe, i was in the middle of a book then.....and didn't complete it yet....
that is how i am...;-)

Well, reading has never been a hobby for me. I just never developed interest in reading. But once I came to know about a book called "Five Point Someone" by the author Chetan Bhagat, and believe me, I couldn't stop myself until I reached the last word of the book.
I really liked it. Then after some time, the second novel of the same author was published and I bought it at once and finished it in no time. By that time, I thought I had started developing interest for reading.. But I didn't go for any other book until the third of Chetan Bhagat rocked the book stalls.
I dont know about other books, but if I am given Chetan Bhagat books of the quality that I have gone through till now, I can even show up being crazy reading one book a day!! For others, I cant say..

Basically, I am a slow reader. There was a time when I used to read 30 books in a year, but now so I spend so much time on internet, that I get less time to read. Apart from that i am preoccupied with household and other chores since my hubby is too busy in his work, so I've to take care of other things. I do want to increase my quota of reading books, but maybe I'll be able to make it someday.

Its so hard to stand up once you're seated in front of the computer. I managed to read the 4 books of twilight last year only 'cause I was so excited to know the whole story, after that, I never found tie to read a book. Well , I downloaded some ebooks(see its not even a BOOK anymore because of technology) but I still havent finished them. Computer takes up a lot of my time now and I bet its the same for most of us here. You should find something thats really interesting so you wont end up stashing it away after the good 5 pages. Hope you'll have a happy reading. :)

This is a really low number for me since I spend most of my time with my child and keeping him busy. I probably completely read 12 - 15 books a year. My goal used to be 2 a month give or take one, and I liked that but it got cut in half when my son was born.

I would say I probably read no more thatn five to ten books in a year. I am just
not willing to read more than that becasue I spend alot of time on the computer and doing other things. I enjoy reading but mostly do it at night before I go to bed. It has been awhile since I read a book I was really enthralled with.

I do read books. If i really want to read books, most of them are for self development and personality improvement. But i never finish them all. All i know i already read few pages... i never finish them all. Everytime i go to library i will borrow one self development book, but then... i wont finish it. The same if im going to bookstore, i always find a very nice book that most of them being judged with interesting title and cover... or whatever being talked in its synopsis... anyway, i'll never finish them all. My problem now is dealing with my pre med books such as henry;'s clinical diagnosis with its thick "face", bertram katzung's pharmacology, stanley's immunology and serology, wintrobe;s clinical hematology, and bishop's clinical chemistry. My gosh... i dont want to read them... its stressful.
Anyway, since im going after grades and scores, i force my self to read them all... from the beginning til d end of pages... ahaha...
I have no choice. So, if i try to answer, i read books lesser than 52, but more than 20 included all my subjects that im taking, but most of them cant be finished...
Hmm...
If i can choose what book to read i prefer manga and comics...!!!
i do have all twilight ebook, but i havent read them all...
ebook...does it count?

I rthink I average 50 books a year, because I read every day (I don't watch TV). The time it takes to read a book depends on the content and size of book. I can read a short novel in a couple of days, but a serious book with 600 pages or more can take up to two weeks.
I'm also reading online all day, and I find it a very different actvity from my leisure time reading. Online I'm quickly skimming articles, posts, snippets and documents. When I read a good book I get totally immersed in the storytelling process, the language, the characters and the plot.
