I've just heard a discussion on the radio regarding the topic,The hotly contested topic of animal testing.I have set up this discussion in the hope that both sides of the argument will be discussed cordially,Now i know it's a topic that people get very heated about but let's try to stay calm in our comments pleae.
My own personal stance on the subject of testing on animals is that it should be dis-continued immediately,Now i know many of you with the other point of view would say that it is a necessary evil in order to advance our medical ability in the human sphere,But i would challenge that and say there are many other ways and means of finding out what we currently do through animal testing. Also testing on a monkey's brain,Is just that,It's a monkey not a human,So it is never going to give totally accurate results.Another reason i detest animal testing is the obvious horrific suffering they have to endure,As we all know animals have a central nervous system and therefore they can feel pain and they fear things,So knowing these facts it makes me very sad to think what goes on in these labs,The poor animals day to day existence,Just spend one single minute contemplating say a monkey's life in a lab,Picture its face and eyes as the lab tecnician approaches for yet another disturbing session of medical advancement,All in the name of us.

The argument that other methods are not as effective doesn't sway my thinking a bit. Animals should not be test subjects. We humans seem to think, at least sometimes, that everything on earth is there for our use and convenience. I respect animals too much for that. Other methods exist, so they should be used.

I Agree with you 100% I became a vegetarian last year and believe it was the best choice I could have made for my life and the lives of animals. I'm tired of the lack of compassion I see evey day not only with people harming animals but the way people treat each other. Maybe if we stoped thinking of animals as objects and treat them like another living thing we could also learn to treat one another better as well. Great topic for a discussion :)
