Do you sleep without pills?

January 22, 2009 7:36am CST
Loads and loads of people take a sleeping pill everyday, which is fair enough because they cant sleep. I have quite a bit of trouble sleeping, but I dont want to take a pill every night. Are there any natural remedies that can help you sleep? Do you take a pill? If not, what do you do?

I have never taken any pill to help me sleep. When I have trouble sleeping, fatigue will eventually wear me out. Warm milk before bedtime helps a lot as well. And this might sound crazy but I make myself dizzy by spinning in circles when I really, really cannot sleep. it always works for me. :)

I am not taking any pills just to sleep! I can sleep anytime I want! I heard from friends who have difficulty in sleeping that it is best to eat dinner as early as 6 pm and also reading books before bed will help! I know this is not true to all but it works with them!

I have no trouble falling asleep...so I don't need pills. Once in a great while I wake up after I sleep for a while and have a hard time getting back to sleep but usually I just go to bed and sleep.

I've been having a very hard time sleeping lately in comparison to before. I used to be able to hit the pillow and fall asleep immediatly and I miss those days terribly! I have a lot more stress in my life now, and I've been trying to work on that. When I go to bed, I try to quiet my mind as much as possible and I do a lot of relaxation techniques before bed like meditation. I don't want to resort to taking pills, so I will try everything else first. I also write in my journal quite a bit before going to bed to purge my mind of all the thoughts that would typically keep me awake. Slowly but surely, these methods have been working.

Ill try and do that, thanks :)

I do, but here lately I have not been sleeping well. It takes me an hour to go to sleep and then I wake up all during the night having to use the restroom. I find that out because I never get up in the middle of the night wanting to go to the restroom.

you are right friends we should never left the natural path , I accept that loads are there but natural solutions are also there I think you should try some as below before sleeping just take deep breath (as much as deep)arround 10 -20 time and as many as possible it would be definately give you relief, just start it and do it for 1 week , I am sure you will get relief take light food at night time there should be arround 2-3 hrs gap between sleeping and dinner and also start this in the morning after fresh and finally just start meditation just for 1/2 hr it would be gives you greate peace and relief and try to be make this habit I am sure I your future life you won't need to take the pill for sleeping atleas this is the minimum benefits of meditation I think this will help you better

I usually don't have much trouble falling asleep, but here are a few tips I can give you: Taking a warm bath just before bedtime will help make you sleepy. Read a boring book. Drink warm milk or a relaxing blend of decaf tea. Don't exercise within two hours of bedtime. When I do occasionally have trouble sleeping, I use the time to pray. It eases my mind of the worries floating around in there at night.

I'll try those, thanks.

i do because i dont get that deep restorative sleep that you need to repair your body, that is why i take sleeping pills. have you tried taking melatonin? you can get it at health food stores and they will help you fall asleep.

I don't take any sleeping pills. Much like anyone else, I would imagine there are some nights when I don't sleep as well as others. But I would imagine that this is the case for a lot of people, not to say all or even most.

Hello 3cardmonte! Well there are times that I can't really sleep but just thinking of sleeping pills is out for me. I mean I heard about some bad effects of taking it and one of it is that when you started taking the pills, on your next nights you can't sleep without pills. I don't really want to be overly dependent with any kind of medicines so what I do when I can't sleep is get a book and read until my eyes will be very tired.

Thats a good idea.

I sleep quite well without any pill every night and anywhere anytime I want to..LOL! Try out doing things that tire you before going to bed so that you can sleep easily..tired mind tends to think less and sleep more..Also meditation may help you..Have a good nights sleep!

I haven't used a sleeping pill in my whole life. I have my own ritual so that I can doze off. I think we all have different ways of doing our own thing including sleeping. For me, as I am lying in bed, I wag my feet left and right and eventually, after some minutes, I will be in deep slumber then. lol Kinda weird right? But thats how it I make myself sleepy.
