Hello silvermoney.
I join you all here in the genuine appreciation of the film's entry to oscars but I may be creating a contorversial debate here by stating the next few lines.
First of all, Slumdog Millionare is not an Indian produced movie. Its director Danny Boyle is a non Indian. The movie is made for World audiences. Its financed from outside. Only things Indian in the movie are the actors, the language and the setting of movie. The story is an adaptation from a book names 'Q and A" by Vikas Swarup. So where is the Indianness in the movie?
Second thing is Oscars is not the highest thing for cinema. It may be for other world audiences but surely not for India. The films made here will never be on the level of oscars because the target audience is different in India and abroad. Foreign audiences are more mature and intelligent and Indians still are happy with their good over evil fight stories!
So to measure an Indian film on OScar's chart would be a foolish thing to do!
The above opinion is strictly mine. People can have their opinions.
;)
Happy

Its great to know that the movie has been nominated for 10 oscars but the movie is completely India. First of all its not and Indian production, no Indian director and stuff. Only Indian actors, So basically all the reputation and money will go the US film industry! It has also not been nominated in the foreign movie categories, so yea!

I am glad to hear of it, but from all indications, Slumdog Millionaire was given thumbs up by a lot of folk. I first heard of it from Tyler Perry when he made a comparison on his site about his movies crossing over and being enjoyed by others other than African Americans. And when I saw the folks talking and raving about it, then I knew a hit or an Oscar nod was in the works. Hope it wins.

I think it is great that this Movie has been nominated for Oscars . However;we must understand that this is a Movie on Indian conditions ; yet made by a Hollywood person and is not a Bollywood Movie .
