A very good Anti-virus software is AVG 7.5 (now I think there is AVG 8.0). I am using the free edition for over 4 years and I am totally satisfied. If you can purchase the professional edition then I am sure it will be better. But the free edition is good enough. I have internet and this softwarw has supported me well. It updates itself on schedule and is very alert to a viral attack.

Are you looking for free or paid antivirus. I would suggest Kaspersky. Great antivirus that protect almost from any threats. If you are looking for free antivirus, try Avast. Its work very good for me. It scan both incoming and outgoing files (which mostly all the antivirus work). Low HD space required and didn't slow down your computer. Recomended from home user.

There are couple of good anti viruses which you can use such as Norton, Avast and AVG. I normally use the avg free which works quite well and doesn't s;low down your computer. But your computer is most likely to be affected by a virus one way or another so I suggest you to use linux OS if you can cause it doesn't get affected much by the virus as much as windows does. It is the safest way by which you can surf the net. Most viruses are designed for windows and therefore linux won't be affected by it.

I would suggest you to use kaspersky Internet Security.Great security. But if you have low performance computer I will suggest ESET Smart security. Both are good. But also try to add some spyware program for tighter security.

i suggest you to use kaspersky internet security anti virus but not the ordinary kaspersky antivirus though it has similar features...but difference between them is kaspersky internet security provides extra firewall to protect from malware...but using is it a bit frustrating because we can't use it freely...if you have paid registration key it is well&good...otherwise we have to search for new keys when it is blacklisted.....

I agree that Eset Nod32 is the best across the world. However, in China, I would rather use the Rising Anit-virus even if I can use Nod32 free for half a year. That's because I believe the local companies know the local situations directly. If you wanna accept the anti-virus service without any fee, you may try the Avast! Home Edition, which is free and performs excellently.

How bout trying a different operating system, for example linux and other linux based systems such as Ubuntu 8.1 have a very limited number of viruses and spyware and such that affect the computer. I would recommend dual booting and using the linux boot for all your internet surfing needs and your main OS for everything else.
