Shouldn't every life be valued?

So I was playing an MMO last night (massive mulitplayer online game) and there was a conversation that got way out of hand in my opinion. There was one person that was being rather rude and hatful toward another and at one point told them to "just do everyone here a favor and go kill yourself". Well I was floored. I made a comment about how completely wrong I thought that was because you never know the frame of mind someone else might be in. How do you know that your comment might not be enough to give them the last push they need to convince them to actually taek their own life. Well, the response I got was, "If someone is stupid enough to try to kill themselves, they don't deserve to live anyway." Is it just me, or does that seem like a total disreguard for human life? Doesn't everyone deserve a chance to get help and get better, or do you think people should just be given up on?

You're right. If we don't believe that life has an intrinsic value in and of itself, then any and everyone has the right to judge, on whatever criteria they please, whether or not another persons life is worthwhile.
That devaluing of life is what allows slavery, physical, emotional abuse, murder, mass genocide.
