I have always had big dogs growing up but I am moving into an apartment. I do not think I can live without a dog because I have had a dog most of my life but I obviously cannot have a big dog in my apartment. I do not know much about any smaller breeds. I have heard a lot of them bark a lot. Does anyone know of a smaller breed that is also quiet?

I have chihuahua , they are barkers , but are also very protective . I call mine by bull dog trapped in another body .........lol. They are great dogs if you live alone .For her to be as small as she is , she still intimidates people. Good luck on finding your perfect dog .

Thanks for the response, lol, that is funny that you call her a bull dog trapped in another body. From what I have heard there are quite a few small breeds that like to act bigger than they are.

I'm an older male and had my share of dogs and loved everyone of them. The best small breed for an apt. I'd strongly recommend a west highland terrier, the are the smartest dogs I've ever met. They are expensive and require exercise. like all breeds do! But check them out I guarantee you won't be disappointed. Good Luck! tdemex
