Seriously, why do people eat pork? If anyone, I'm pretty sure a lot of people on MyLot have read the bible, it specifically saids, "Pigs are not meant to be eaten."
Can someone explain to me, how we all ignored that part and we dig on pork chops?

and seriously, how many people have disobeyed other rules in the bible?
adultry, lieing, stealing, etc...
eating pork seems like a minor compared to others.

We don't eat pork, but I am glad that someone else notices this. Even though it is under the old law that it says that we should not eat these animals we still need to understand that they are not clean. We can eat them without sinning, but we have to understand what they can do to our bodies when we eat them. Pigs do not clean their meat as they process through their body.

Not every one reads the bible and even those that do don't read it.
The bible says a lot of things and I have noticed that most church goers manage to find a way around anything they don't want to follow, even the ministers, so how would you expect the average person to follow the bible when it comes to eating?
It all comes down to how our religious leaders do things. If they go out to eat at restraunts after church they are going against the bible but every preacher I know does it.
That's why I don't follow the bible. I also eat a lot of pork.

hello cmofi
my family and myself love any part of a pig. lol pork chops, pork ribs, pork roast, bbq pork, sausage, bacon. all of it. grilled pork chops are delicious and sausage and/or bacon for a breakfast item is good. and i also like to use ham hocks in cooking navy beans and pinto beans.
take care and have a beautiful evening.

I like pork chops and all that, but the lst time I ate them was probably 3 months ago. I don't eat it that often because my first pet was a pig, so when I eat pork my husband goes, "oooh your eating your nephews." So I hardly eat pork, maybe once a year, just to kill the crave, but other than that I don't.

Mark 7:17-19
17: And when he entered into the house from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable.
18: And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him;
19: Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?
Matthew 15:11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man, but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.
Romans 14:14 I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself; but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.
1 Timothy 4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thansgiving
The above quotes would appear to allow me to eat pork, so pass the pork chops please!

I, personally, don't eat horse or dog meat, but there are peoples that do. That doesn't make it wrong, just different. Societies, cultures, the Church, and, yes, even the views expressed in the Bible change with the times as they evolve around each other. As to when this particular change occurred, I can't give you an exact date, but sometime between the Old and New Testaments, obviously.

It's true, pork is not good for us. But as far as the Bible is concerned. Didn't the Lord give Peter a vision and told him to go ahead and eat whatever? I guess that's why we say grace before we eat. Having said that though, the Lord also says that everything is lawful . . . it's just not all beneficial. That's my two cents. Bottom line, pork is no good, but it's no longer sinful.

i love pork. most people I know eats them. I don't know why we should deprive ourselves eating Lechon, roasted pig, barbeque, spare ribs, etc. If someone is deiting, they also deserves to eat once in a while.
