Does anyone else hate the taste of blue cheese?

I was really excited the other day to finally taste blue cheese. Let me just tell you that it wasn't a pleasant experience. I find it really yucky. And what's worse is that the foul taste stays on my palate for hours. I love all kinds of cheeses, but I really don't get it why some people praise this nauseating kind of cheese. I know I may not have the sophisticated tastebuds for these kinds of stuff, but come on, am I alone in this? Please post whether you agree or disagree.

blue cheese is ok in moderation and in certain dishes, like i will not eat the stuff plain. but melted on top of a bacon wrapped fillet is dank. but being a cook i can not stand when restaurants try to pass blue cheese as gargonzola cheese becuase they are not the same

Gorgonzola is the stronger variety right? If I hate blue cheese, I think I'll hate that gorgonzola stuff too. Personally, my favorite cheeses are cheddar, mozzarella and the occasional Monterey Jack.

Blue Cheese is O.K. in small quantities on certain things, but it is very easy to put too much of it on your food. It will totally ruin a good meal if you use too much...

I know. But even a small amount can make me puke. I guess, I'm just not a food connoisseur.

I have only eaten blue cheese once. My husband likes it and one day he bought some blue cheese. He ate some of it and he asked me if I wanted to eat it as well. I decided to eat a little bit in order to find out if I liked it or not. My husband watched me while I ate it and he couldn't stop laughing. He could tell from my expression that I really didn't like it, and he was right about that. I am never going to eat it again

I am the same way when it comes to ranch dressing. My stomach can not tolerate it so I use blue cheese for everything. Some people probably don't like it cause it can be chunky etc but it's one that doesn't make my stomach hurt or give me issues.

I tasted blue cheese once and had the same reaction that you had! But I know people who swear on that one and I cannot understand why! It just tastes so foul but I guess its a matter of habit and the fact that liking blue cheese must be an acquired habit, it probably grows on one slowly! I personally prefer cheddar and mozarella cheeses!

I used to rally dislike it, but there are so many types of blue cheese now and I find I can enoy it quite happily.

Maybe blue cheese is yucky to some and to me too but you haven't tasted our Malaysian cheese we call 'Belacan'. It is made of preserved pounded shrimp and left to harden in earthen ware. To us the taste is delicious but to others who are not familiar with the smell, it is vomit inducing and it will never meet the tastebud of other people from other countries. It is an acquired taste and it is used as one of the ingredients in making our local dips for our salad.
