Lazy Defined!

I think I have come to an all time low when it comes to being lazy, at least this is what some friends have told me. Anyway, last week I did my grocery shopping online. That's right I used Peapod. In this weather, I tend to only go out when I have to and I just had no desire to do any grocery shopping which is bad when you like to cook. So I used Peapod and made the mistake of bragging about it to my friends who just sat idly by while shaking their heads. I couldn't figure out why. But I asked and they told me that it was the epitomy of laziness because I'm fully able to go out and do my own shopping. But I will continue to sing the praises of Peapod. First, the prices and tax were great. I got a lot of food for a little money. They delivered the next day and everything was very fresh. They even bagged all the cold stuff and shelf stuff in seperate bags. The delivery man even took it to my kitchen. All I had to do was put it away and I shopped from the comfort of my own home. What could be better? I do admit that maybe it is a little lazy but not insanely. What do you guys think- lazy or not? Have you ever used Peapod? What is the laziest thing that you do that people say something about? Ok answer whatever questions you want! Thanks for reading!

I don't own a car and can't get out as I need but this place called Peapod sounds like a great place. Is it only payable through credit card? I don't call it lazy I call it smart. You got your food without dealing with the hassles of shopping at a store and standing in line while your ice cream might be melting. I have got to check this place out..Is it available everywhere? to everyone?

Seems like it is pretty widely available. I think you can pay by check- not sure about cash at delivery but you should check it out. Thanks for stopping by hun.

I don't even like sending my husband to the grocery store. I don't trust anyone to pick out my bread, milk, or produce...so no peapod for me. Do I think you are lazy? Absolutely! lol But if I had someone to bring my food to me so I didn't have to go out in 8 degree weather with -20 degree wind chills and deal with the traffic from people who drive like they have never seen a snow flake before, I would have done it too! The laziest thing I do...lol it's a tie. I pick things up with my toes because I am too lazy to bend over to do it. I will spend 5 minutes trying to extract a toothpick out of the carpet with my toes instead of bending down and picking it up in 3 seconds. But that is tied with waiting for my husband to get out of bed for something so I can steal his drink. I take his glass and drain it then pretend I'm sleeping when he comes back (sometimes only a minute later) so I don't have to go refill it.

Exactly- the weather and the people. That's it! I love that you drain his drink- that's priceless. The toothpick thing- well that is just pure talent! Thanks for stopping by hun!

We all have our lazy days... even the most industrious... hardworking of all people would tend to feel like they need to be lazy from time to time... so don't worry about it... It is just a good thing that you were able to do your grocery shopping online... and that site is such a heaven sent... not only for those who feel lazy to go out... but for those who do not have the time because they are busy with work and other stuf...

Personally, I detest the word lazy. I feel it is overly used by people who are OCD, clean freaks, perfectionists and control freaks. It's a way to make people feel bad for not wanting to do something that one of these jerks feels is important. We all have our priorities. What is important to one person may not be important to another. If I don't don't make my bed every day, does that make me lazy, or does that just mean I have other things to do that I feel are more important? It depends on who you ask! If I feel that spending time with my children is more important than having spotless floors, does that make me lazy or does that make me a parent who things focusing on a relationship is more important than impressing the neighbors or family with shiny floors? If you don't feel like going shopping, then don't! If you have the means to have things brought to your door, that go for it! You enjoy cooking. That's awesome! Some people will GO to the store themselves and buy ready made food! So, are THOSE people more lazy than you or less lazy than you? Maybe they just prefer to get out of the house and you prefer to spend your energy actually COOKING the foor rather than going out and BUYING it.

If this was offered in my area I would jump on it, but it's not. I would love it because even though I am able to go shopping I really dread it at times because I hate having to stop at the store everyday because I forgot something...honestly I feel like I go to work, stop at the store and come home. Those are three places that i frequent so much that I could be tracked...LOL So it would be nice for me to have a little free time and not feel like I am always forgetting something...like the list. You're not lazy, just lucky it's in your area. I bet your friends will check it out next. Trendsetter.

They were more jealous than anything! Hey, if you can save time and money - why not! I'd say you are pretty ingenious to figure it out! And what you do with your extra time is your business, not theirs. They do lazy things that they aren't admitting - wonder how long they lounge in front of the TV every day! I say you did an intelligent thing!

Awwww thanks. I knew my fellow mylotters would see it my way. I know they have their lazy issues but it seems like I do those too so I can't even call them out. Double edged sword, I guess. Thanks so much for the response.

I haven't done this yet. But, with 2 kids, one being 6 weeks old I think it is a good idea. Why take the kids out in the cold if you don't have to? I don't consider this lazy. You needed to shop, so you did. It isn't really any different than doing Christmas shopping on line to avoid the crowds. Oops I do that. Guess that makes me lazy! NOT.

LOL...I don't know how lazy it is, but it sounds great. There have been several times in the past few years that I have looked for similar services, only to find out that there was nothing available in my area. Of course, it has been for a few different reasons. There have been times when we didn't have a car and ordering online would have been easier then finding a ride and getting the job done. Then there was the time when we had one car and my husband worked 66 hours a week leaving me car-less (he commutes and has to leave for work at 5:15am so it wasn't reasonable for me to take him). So, lazy or not...I would definitely do it. My mom thinks that I am lazy because I spend a few hours a day online. Of course, this is how I make a little extra money so that we can make ends meet even with me being a stay at home mom (we can't afford daycare around here).

I don't blame you at all for getting your groceries online, I would too if I could and I don't even have the excuse of bad weather! Who wants to go and walked around a shop then stand in line for god knows how long waiting for some pimply teenager with no manners to ignore you while they scan your items. Three cheers for Peapod! Not lazy just common sense

I have never shopped online Skinny. I want to, but The Boss won't let me! If it works for you then why not? It also cuts down the chances of impulse buys thus saving a little money. I would always use the internet for my online groceries. How do you use a Peapod? Can you write a message on it and then post it to the supermarket of your choice? LOL.

LOL I don't think so. But they are affiliated with the one I use anyway so it was just like being there. But that is a great idea, they should do that. Thanks for stopping by. Let me know if you want me to give the boss a push in the internet grocery direction.

If I did all my grocery shopping on line I wouldn't have any kinda fun. That's all I do anymore is go to the Store. Sad but true.

I dont call that lazy at all. To be honest, it's a service and your using that service. If it's less taxes and money for the goods, then how can this be a BAD thing? Maybe they aren't comfortable with this new wave of technology. To be honest, when I lived in a small town once a week I could call in an order and have it delivered to my home for $5.00. I didn't think that was a bad deal. It was a service for the elderly and those who didn't have gas money. The cost of goods wasn't any higher then your bigger francises, just the delivery fees. To be honest, I found it a big time safer, especially when you're running around with your children. Lazy? Don't think so, just another service you can use so you're not taxing your energies.

When you figure tax in- for some reason online taxes on food are at least 7 percent cheaper, then the shipping isn't even a factor. I would be paying that money in sales tax at the store. So it all balances. It is a great service. Thanks for stopping by.

That's cool. I've never heard of peapod before. I have ordered some grocery items from Amazon, but you can't order perishable items from them. I had to go to the grocery store today and I really didn't want to go even though it's only a few blocks away, but it was SO cold outside today. I had to go, though, because my husband was home early from work and because he works all the time I only have time to go to the store one time a week when he's off once a week or when he comes home early. I carried all the bags in at one time even though it was so heavy because I just didn't want to trudge through the snow back to the car.
