This appears to be proof positive that Obama SHOULD NOT CLOSE Guantanamo Bay !!!!! Good grief, what more evidence does this guy need to prove that closing Gitmo Bay is the most WRONG decision to make... not to mention the wrong executive order to make!

Your not missing anything. Most of America seems to be though. They can't close Gitmo until they prosecute everyone they need to and this war is officially over with no threat to us. Otherwise, these country is in even more trouble.
I guess he is trying to do things to please the watchful media eye and public before he jacks up taxes. Deflection off of the economic issues I think.

Something like this should certainly not have been an executive order - it should been voted on by the american people as we are the ones that will be paying the price. And yeah, it is something that can cause us all to be distracted while he does other executive orders that we will have to pay for.

Well, I must first say that I am thrilled to hear someone mention Obama without going on and on about him being the truth, the light and the way. For heaven's sake, it's exhausting to watch all this hero worship.
I COMPLETELY agree that Gitmo should not be closed. And I'm sure that Obama knew that if he let Americans vote on the idea of closing it, there's no way it would happen. Plus, as another poster said, this is a great way to divert our attention while he jams more taxes down our throats.
